Warrior/Ring 21 2.5 efi topend

Hi All,

Have been asked by a friend to check around what topend could be expected when running a Warrior (lightweight version of a Ring) with a recent 2.5 efi 280? (8100rpm, sm lu 1:1,87, 25")
Any response is appreciated Thanks guys!

Assume you have 10 % slip, you will run 92 mph.
moste likely you have 12-13% slip, and speed will be 89 mph.

But it could easily be a few miles off.

Is that with or without the boat being attached to the motor?

Who makes Warrior?

just a mile off but I guess you know which boat (not too many of them around). just wondering if he could go even faster with this setup. Perhaps a Ring guru nows a trick or two which hasn't been tried yet. (without doing too much to the engine)

@Tony --> perhaps sterling knows, I think he owned one

The Warrior competing in F2 at last years Europeans in Hardervijk was flying (literally on some occasions - excellent hook on the clubhouse turn). Not quite as quick as one of Nico's F2's but difficult to judge without engines like for like.

Talking

don't think he went out on the ski racing part but if there were 'normal' races (without skier) then most likely yes. It really looks like it flies , I had some pictures from a race in 2005 but can't find them now.

A Warrior is not a exact ring 20,the running pad is different .
Don,t know if it makes all the world in difference ?

I guess its Gert ,s Warrior your question was about,I don,t know how fast it goes as I,ve never driven his boat.

The calculation I made is not far off ? 1 mile from what speed 89?so it runs 88 or 90? my guess would be 88 mph,as its normal for a light 20 ft with 280 hp

Yes it's always embarrassing when the driver looks up and the skiers coming straight towards you! The worst thing the skier can do at that moment is throw the handles. The deck on the Warrior is significantly different seemingly moving the driver/crew and presumably the weight distribution further back.

yes is Gert's, it does 88MPH, we should have a small meeting in the NL with you, him and perhaps some other people with seriously fast boats (and a checkmate off course ;-) )

but what to do to make it even quicker

his boat is red/blue/white so I guess we are talking about another one.

but yes the frontdeck has been lengthened a bit so drivers etc are further back. don't know if any other have it like this one.

You could start with mounting old style EFI components ,and 56 psi press regulator ,and bring the block to Nico van Akelyen Belgium,he can made you S 3000 port timing and hogged out exhaust, balanced crank etc .

That way you can rev it to 9000+ and try a 24 prop to come in the powerband wher most power is .

Only drawback is ,it does need pistons/rings more frequently.
Ask Burty on this forum here ,he has as far as I understand S 3000 porting etc done, also on a 20 ft boat.
Dunno about speed ,just ask him ,he ,s really a nice guy.

'Scuse my ignorance but never heard of a ring "Warrior" before.

Is it an extra light layup and does it have a stepped Hull?

Was wondering whether "Lord of the Rings" was a warrior as ive never seen one that looks like this one before

A Warrior is the hull of a ring (basically) but the deck is designed differently and yes they are lighter i think

"Lord of the rings" is just an early 20 (or 21).

from what i understand of it, 'Warriors' are basically a splashed Ring 20 hull & some kinda deck neatly packaged by some more of our Belgic/Dutch friends.

Thanks Chaos but didnt think standard R20's or 21's had stepped hulls and by the looks of th pics "Lord of the Rings" does.

I got following info from someone who's active in waterskiracing.
Warrior boats are based on Rings but have indeed a different deck-style. The hull is very lightweight, but yet amazingly strong. Front deck is quite long and therefore the interior a bit small.

There's only 1 size of Warrior boats : the 20ft. There are 2 different deck-styles (old and new). They were or are made at Bonestroo in Holland Harderwijk...

See some pictures below... Both boats are for sale btw...
@ Rebel Skier & gar163y : 'the yellow and blue one' that competed in F2 in Harderwijk last year... is that the one in my picture ?

Greets, T.
