winner

Have wilted an bought another boat this weekend, despite speed ban on windermere.

It's an 18' winner with a rover v8 coupled to an antique volvo leg, but it all works.

Bought it as a cheap wakeboarding boat and wondered if anyone knew owt about them?

I saw a smaller one on the lake a couple of years ago that had been done up and it looked dated but cool in a kind of ironic "capri ghia" kind of way.

Winner 'Wildcat' maybe?

A mate had one years and years ago. Good ski boat though a little dated looking.

Have been having a bit of a search this morning and you are right, it is a wildcat. It looks a big heavy bugger so hopefully it'll kick up a fair old wake.

It does look dated, but I quite like it. Not sure of that's cos I actually like it or just cos it was cheap and makes lots interesting v8 noises!

To be honest it is sitting on a trailer that's worth as much as I paid for the boat, so I can't lose - probably!

If I can get a wheel bearing for the trailer this week I'll go for a test next weekend, tides permitting.

Cheers

Winner Wildcat has been the basis for quite a lot of parascending boats!

I never knew that, but now you say it i can see the resemblance between it and the ones you see in Ibeefa.

I know someone who is into paragliding so could give it a go! There were a couple of guys paragliding on coniston last year as part of the protest against the ban, apparently some bye-law says you can't do it on windermere.

Boat's at a mate's place and he's just rung me to say he's fired it up this morning and the neighbours were straight round to complain about the noise!

Think I might seeking advice on a revised exhaust system that features a bit more than 18" of large bore stainless pipe!

My cousin had a Winner Wildcat - they called it the limo it was so smooth in any chop - it just battered waves out of the way it was so heavy!

Excellent, cheers.

The guy I got it off had some pictures of it out on the water badly trimmed and not really planing - the wake looked like a fecking tsunami, we'll see!

Anyone know who is good for old volvo bits, boat not car?
