xr2 carbs

Hi,
was just wondering.... Has anyone ever swapped their xr2 pumper carbs on a newer motor over to the old xr2 carbs with the slosh tubes on each side? Got a set of both and I'm getting the tinkering itch! Was wondering if factors like the old vertical reed chests versus the newer horizontal ones played a part, power gain/loss? also if someone comes back saying they blew their motor up doing so, I'll chuck the other set on fleabay!

Anyone? I'm sure I've seen newer xr2's with older style carbs on them? I've also got some wh15's, any info on them would be a great help too.
