On the xr2 front if I wanted to fit a 200 2.5 instead of the 2.0 powerhead, anyone know what problems there would be? thanks

Thanks burty, for some reason I thought I had read somewhere the exhaust openings needed a little work to join to the leg, I'am probably talking complete crap. I am thinking maybe this comming year I should start to look out for a 200 2.5 block as my mate fu...d the XR2 block

bugger forgot about that but depends what tuner adaptor you got plus does it really make that much difference? it would certainly still run without opening it up

yes it will run o.k! but in the end you will end up melting the bottom 2 pistons! not good!!! its best to grind the adapter out to the size of the 2.5
then there is no rastriction to cause any problems.

Hi Tank, I'm gonna fit a 97 2.5 on a (I think 98) xr2 offshore leg, will I have to do anything to match the two together ?

hello mike,
all you will have to do is grind the exhaust out on the adaptor plate! as they are larger on the 2.5 than the xr2 by doing this there is no restriction on the powerhead. i have done quiet a few now.
i could do yours if you would like just an idea? let me know?
tank.

cookee I had noticed some time back you were selling the xr2 block, my original plan was to sell the xr2 and replace it with either another v6 merc pref efi and not opti as normally more outlay, and second it's weight or change to 130 yam, I did find an 150efi in Florida could not find one in uk, but now trying to get my money back from that fiasco, anyhow, in the meantime a friend blew the xr2 up so now I am thinking maybe a new ordinary v6 block for 2007.

roofer that may be of intrest, would that be the 200efi complete less the leg?, therefore I would guess the only mod needed would be the same as a 200 carb model to make it fit?, please pm the detail's thank's
