MERC powerhead wiring

Hi Nic,
may be this drawing can help you, this is for a 16amp stator, check only the lower right part of this drawing for the connector loom/ voltage regulator/rectifier....
You don't use lubalert, idlestabilizer, oil tank cap, etc....
Hope this help.
most of the time pin N°5 cable is grey.

Could be a blown rectifier, can you test to see if the engine is charging. You can check the rectifier diodes with a multimeter (disconect all wires first). Power and earth direct to the tacho and a direct cable from the terminal with the grey wire on the rectifier to the switch connection on the tacho should make it work unless the rectifier or tacho are faulty.

RS components do some suitable bridge rectifiers for not much money. You would need to change the connectors on yer loom though.

Part arrived and fitted,Rev counter now works again Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!,I'm glad I decided to investigate faulty rev counter as I presume it meant it wasn't charging as well (although I didn't check charging output)and its a bit difficult to bump start an outboard when the battery eventually died so thanks again as it saved me a probable breakdown at sea and a bill from dealer to sort fault out.
