Yes that's mm

Piston is 79.12 mm

Ring Gap between .45 and .65 mm

We have found with the genuine ART piston that it swells up more than the older design and if the bore is bang on spec and you rev it hard it traps the rings relatively quickly. However you say you have a nikasil bore, which I don't understand and I don't recommend honing it with a handtool.

Thanks for all your answers TechTeam

Don't worry I won't honig it by handtools

Can you please tell me one more thing please

What are sizes of oversize pistons made by Mercury??

Will it be 79.27 and next size 79.42 ??
Or is it something else??

Mike

No

79.50mm would be 15 thou over

79.88mm would be 30 thou over

Sorry to mix up imperial and metric but most people understand +015 or +030

We normally go straight to +030 but that's just to gain the cc's

So who nikasilled your motor then ? I'd check to see if that is allowed.

Ok so I don't quite understend, I thought that XR2 Racing have nickasil as standard. Noone did that. Just have to polished (honig - if I do undestand that word ) cylinder.

How can I check if it is Nikasil or not??

I think you will find you don't have a nikasil motor. Visual inspection Nikasil would be a pale gold colour and retains it's crosshatching very well because it wears so well. Standar bore would be dull silver/grey much like a steel liner.

No because they are a caged unit, you cannot change the rollers as they are crimped in. As it is a bottom guided rod use the genuine parts I promise you it will work out cheaper than a new block.
