XR6 gearbox any good for my XR2?

hi all,

iv just sourced an old XR6 gearbox to try out, picking it up tomorrow.

i have been told that the gearbox is narrower than my standard box im running at the mo. can i expect to see any noticable handeling/speed differences with the XR6 box?

i belive the gear ratio is same as my standard box?

doubt you'll notice a difference unless you are up around the 100mph mark

100!! think my little ring18 would shake to bits anythin over 80!!

im more concerned about what it will do off the start, gettin lot of cavitation an thought the more skinny box might reduce prop slip and give me more bite??

im seeing 66mph with 200XR2 runnin a propeller revalutions worked chopper 24p.

runnin the motor jacked so the bullet of the box is level wid the V an trimming doesnt really gain much speed, just seems to plant the nose an take me back down to 60-61mph.

if your getting you max rpm at WOT try dropping the nose an inch to pick some clean water getting up..it should help with your cav problem

i think you get lower rpm with same prop 1,78 xr6 vs 1,87 200 hp gear ratio
maybe less bow lift and less drag in the water
maybe little faster maybe slower because you need the bowlift

try it and you know it

the americans use it with a nosecone on fast light boats it gives some extra speed look on scream and fly forum for steckebauer gearcase
they use xr6 gearcase for this
