I'm not completely sure how they work but if you have to be 3-8 meters away to start the boat it would seem as if you will have to be 3-8 meters away from the boat before it shuts down. And I could be under the prob within that distance...

...and it's just another thing to go wrong, well 3 things, the key pad start and the cord and receiver.

I saw it demonstrated here in Denmark.
It is a 'safty-key' which shut the engine down when it get in touch with water. (person overboard)
Another feature is you can start the engine with a push of a button, and further more trim it up and down with the 'key'. (comfort??)

If You should forget the 'key' at home, or it runs out of power, you can still start the engine by pressing in a four-digit code.

Personally I think it's a super thing/gadet

But would you want to be bouncing around with that round your neck. I think human nature would take over and it'll be tucked under your top or in a pocket, delaying it's contact with water, maybe till after you hit your prop!

and another thing...you get bounced out of the drivers seat to the back of the boat ..bang the ole noggin and totally knocked out with the craft still going forward at a fast pace ..shite i say

But could one emagine a person falling over the side, and underneath the boat - considering the speed we are talking about??

The boat would long have passed you when you hit the water..??

A mate told me a story of how he helped a guy who had been thrown from his boat, The grab handle on the back of his life jacket had caught on a cleat and he was hanging off the side of his boat unable to climb back in!
When everybody had stopped laughing they helped him back in and he was on his way. He was wearing a kill cord! Might have been a different story if he had one of these fitted to his boat.

If they're not using them for racing professionally then don't bother, as do you really want to be the unfortunate person to accidentally test them and find out they are just a cleverly advertised gimmick?

Leave the gimmicks for your phone, this is an important safety feature that has to work 100% when needed.

Yes your right...
I even have had a un-experienced driver turning the boat hard starbord, at full speed.
Nedless to say we ended up in a pile at the other side of the boat??
The kill-cord luckely stopped the boat instantly..

What a LAMO, and me also for letting him drive...

ime just not happy with anything powerd "fly by wire" and that includes "stop by wire" if you get my meaning

Kill cord switch every time simple,safe,less to go wrong !
