Additionally, you could write directly to the important person at the RYA.
I think it really is best going through the clubs - we have representation at relevant committees etc and thus can take things further. I think it is perhaps too easy for the RYA to push aside individual requests and in all fairness they probably do not have time to deal with every racer making an enquiry.

Originally that was why ORDA was formed - to represent the competitors and their views.

It is surprising how little feedback / requests / suggestions we get from competitiors. It would be great to get more positive involvement from our members and competitiors so tah twe can take the sport forward.

Licenses

Very well put Adam !! This is also why OCRDA & all the other clubs. were formed, the clubs should act as the go between for their members & RYA this would give people like Sheila, Debra & John more time to do their jobs with less chance of confusion to all !!

Egg Chicken or Chicken Egg
In theory the basic is to attract newcomers to the sport and get people out there racing, percentage wise they wouldn't have yet joint a club. Existing may need to take that lead.

As a non club member anywhere. For what it's worth, pay as you go just like "Orange or "Vodaphone" No 2 race limit.

I'm sure Gav would quite happily chip in his sixpence worth as the typical example.

Event License

Quote : From RYA

Any competitor taking out an event licence must be a member of an affiliated RYA powerboat racing club.

There's been quite a few people expressing an interest to get the northern series racing going again without the RYA.

The problem is no RYA no insurance cover unless someone knows of an alternative.

What reading my post again or Non RYA

Personally I would like to think that everybody would be happy under the one great big umbrella, there is a lot of work done by many for fek all. Far to many assume that personal opinions expressed are criticism of their performance or capabilities when it isn't. But then one shouldn't reside in a cocoon either.

As for ramifications what could they be, remember you can only be affected by a system if you live or operate within it.

But just for a laugh I'll up £500 prize money for the first non RYA event ,2ltr offshore in a leap year during an eclipse

You can get insurance without the RYA. I have investigated. It is however expensive.

The other issue is racers who are RYA licence holders can not race or the RYA will ban them.

So you would have a race of complete beginners and that would also affect the insurance.

Adam

so as an orda member do you want me, and others who feel the same way to write to you or is a verbal suggestion ok? And do you think there is any chance of the rule being changed during this season ?

Gav, I would suggest you email Adam or myself a way forward with these event licences, whose cost, I believe is subtracted from the price of a National Licence when you apply for it, and we can try and do something about it.
ORDA have a comittee meeting tomorrow night and I think the next ORC meeting is in 10 days or so , and I can take it forward there.
As Adam rightly says we are supposed to represent the drivers views so let's get on with it...

Any more for any more ?

Funny the RYA would ban ya but the UIM dont

as I said , you can only be affected by a system if you live or operate within it.
So you could in theory surrender your RYA licence do the fek what ever ya want and re apply at some future date if you wanted to.
You would not have infringed ANY REGS as you were not a RYA licence holder at the time so no grounds for a Ban, just cant be on both sides at once.

Drop the 2 rule & I'll do 4-5 next season.
