As far as I know....

There are four Swedish boats coming over for the European races at Ramsgate and Littlehampton. The most race boats we had out last year was four ( with a fifth boat driving around the course, not really involved in the race... )

For the national series ie not the Europeans, the core boats are already either ready or being made ready ( the usual four ) plus I know of two others that are spending money preparing their boats and say they are definately in. On top of that, there are another two teams looking at buying V24's. Finally the series owner is making noises about putting a boat back into the series. This makes the exisitng four in and five 'newbies'

So this is also more than double for 2006 nationals and a 'fleet' of 12/13 for the Europeans.

Much like it was in 2004.

The Swedish guys are definates. They said in 2005 they would run the series for two or more boats. They ran their series with two, then three and finally four boats. Same rules they say for 2006. They will put on each event if they have two boats minimum. As part of the Europeans some UK based boats are going there, and they are looking after the boats between events. There are nine boats going to be in Sweden at last count.

Sweden V-24 boats

Saw three or four of those V-24 boats from sweden in Smøgen (in sweden) this summer. Looks like a class whith a lot of fun, due to the boats being very much alike.

Didn`t look like those boys from sweden wjere going to quit with v-24, they had a lot of fun and tight racing!

Too bad we don`t have anybody racing v-24 in Norway. People that spend a lot of many on big boats in Norway seem to have put them in Pro-Vee rather than v-24...

But haven`t I seen some of those V-24 boats from Uk in Arendal, Norway, one or more summers over the last years?

Yes in 2004 about 8 boats supported the pro vee race which was held there.
It was the 2nd round of the V24 european championship, the 1st being in Ramsgate ( UK ) and the 3rd in sweden, twoz a good year .

I am sure something can be arranged. You need to speak to Cliff Smith. It would be an idea to try work something around the Sweden dates. I liked Norway! It was my third race, and I came third!

V-24

Really dont think I`m in no possision to arrrange any race in norway...I`ve just competed in the V-50 offshore recruit championonship.

But I`m kind of concerned of the future of the sport globally, because I think it is something that will allways mean something to me, because I`m a boat freak and I am attached to this sport, and hopefylly will compete for a lot of seasons.

And so I try to keep myself updated on "the big picture" in powerboat racing.

I`m now a student in what I guess you would call "naval arcitecture" (we call it "marine technology"), and the studies is a result of my genuine marine interests...

I really like to follow the evolvement that goes on in racing, and look at races, and I look forth too the day that I see thaat I once moore have the money and time to take part in this fabuluos sport once moore...and hope to take advantage of my education as a naval arcitecturer and dominate sime races....

The Race at Pwllheli

Is the race at Pwllheli likely to be well attended ? And does anyone have any info on the course layout ?

With 4 classes racing it should be. OCR and V24's have different courses, and RIBs and Class III race together most of the time.

OCR will be a course set close to whatever viewing area there is, V24 will be a single lap course, but larger than OCR, and the RIBs and class III boatsa will race a multiple lap course with the occasional long lap - details will be available with 2 weeks of the race officially, although some details are published earlier for publicity purposes.

I hope that helps a little bit?

Thanks for the info Cookee .... I shall be out in my boat watching the races. It will be like a trip down memory lane as I used to watch the annual Welsh 100 race off Pwllheli when I was a kid. This event was not as professional as the current series. It was more of a run what you brung event ..... followed by a ' pull a funny face and fart competition ' at the Abersoch Powerboat Club !
