2011 calendar

Is there a provisional calendar for next year yet? Any dates would be good for offshore and ski racing, many thanks in advance. Paul

Provisional Ski Race dates !!

Offshore all a bit vague at the moment as we all seem a bit short on competitors.

Great pity to see the BM not taking place this year, that and the Cancer research were to me the basic main stays that re-awoke my enthusiasm each season, although last years BM was cancelled due to the very bad weather conditions, perhaps it should of been moved to late march giving teams more time to get their boats out of winter hibernation ... but then again with hardly any 2ltr boats and V24 taking part the grass roots have headed for the hills already and with probably not much luck with coaxing a few marathon boats out to run a basic it's kinda all over before it even starts

seems a lot of doom and gloom around!

but at the same time I keep hearing of people who want to race - if the events are good and the costs are reasonable.

something must be seriously wrong if we cannot keep a race scene going....

Sticking my head above the parapit, may be the costs are not 100% of the problem, politics maybe? unsettled rules irrespective of class or equipment? just by going back through the muster area and reading some old threads i would say this is more likely the problem, therefore people not wanting to spend what little disposable income they may have on potentially bad weekends, i'm not suggesting for one minute bad events are being put on but as i say just looking back that is where i see the problems.
Yes there is a finacial problem around but on an old thread, free entries could not even get people on the start line.
Has anyone spoke to JP about the dire state of the UK race scene and got his views? After all he is the manager.
Paul

Full Circle

Same old subject matter over 20yrs ago.

Can`t help but notice that when the Cancer Race is confronted by 3 Marathon B, + 1 IIIE, + 3 V24, +3 IIIC, + 1 Marathon E,all of a sudden the classes become Unlimited,F1 & F2.

Every picture tells a story.

Too add to the previous post, despite the recession there will always be people who want to race,it is after all a leisure pursuit,so formulating minimum classes to cater for that can`t be beyond solving. There are people out there who are prepared to organise races despite the constant problems that are forever generated. So that leaves the politics, which grind down the organisers and disenchant the competitors.Once that stumbling block can be finally laid to rest, maybe the clouds would part.Whoever succeeds in that would be a worthy negotiator indeed.

Unfortunately there are too many premaddona's inventing new classes in an attempt to make money !!

The two classes should just be Commercial & Enthusiast !!
