I understand that the new chairman of the ORC would like to see Guernsey host the 2014 3B World Championship.

Go for it chaps!

It was so much fun beating your Grandfathers in the '80 s!

It's all on the RYA website Simon, google UIM 3B rules. Different minimum weights depending whether you go non EPA (yam 90) or EPA (115HO or Optimax)

Anyone want a 200HO?

At the moment the Yam 90 runs out of homologation at end of this year so if anyone is thinking of running one you should ask Paul Mahy to put forward to ORC (I have already put in a request to RYA) to then apply to UIM for a further extention.

All rules should be on your RYA USB Sticks that everyone competing should have.

Unless you are planning CATS or Batboats you would be better going for 3a !!

Some of us oldies are still around although Pete Wilson was looking a little tired the other day.

Would be great to hold the championship here, maybe a V24 round and a Guernsey basic race at the same time could be arranged.

Bring it on!

Ciao- in the spirit of good sportsmanship and hoping very very much that we do get it here...

would love to see you try mate!

In all seriousness, if anyone is thinking about entering from the UK we'll do our best to show you a good time! The waters here are fantastic for racing, we have a great club, committee and safety team and it promises to be a fantastic event. Current estimate is 8 local boats entering and rising!

If you want any information or help please get in touch and I'll do my best to share any info I can help with. I also know a reasonable bit about 3B.

Obviously until it's confirmed that we get it by the UIM it is only a maybe but we're working hard here to get things in place.

Likewise if you don't have a 3B boat but fancy coming over to race next year we have an open race series and all are welcome. The committee must pre-approve rigs for entry to stop what they believe to be dangrous boats from racing but we have a range of boats from tintoreras with 90s to v24s and P25s racing. The 200 class is particularly competitive with the most boats!

Feel free to give me a call for any info or visit http://www.guernsey-powerboat-association.com/

Inboards

Are you allowed to run with an inboard engine for 3B? Or even 3C?

Only if it's been homologated which would mean it would need to be a production engine - any of that size you know of?

I just wondered if a jet ski engine could be modified into one of the super lightweight 3B hulls.

A few of the engines would seem to fit into the EPA cc range, don't understand the HP limits though.

A 115 H.O and 115 Pro Xs has a rated HP of 115 but really gives abit more HP. But as long as they have a rated hp of 115 its ok. Abit diffuse....

If anybody knows of or might have a boat for lease for next year's worlds PM me... I have a few people looking already but figured it couldn't hurt to ask on here.

When was the last time a non-European team entered 3B?

It would still need to homologated though and that is a long UIM process.

You are really limited to those engines Homologated through UIM of upto 115hp and 1800cc (normally aspirated) Etec, Merc or Yamaha.

I suspect the JetSki engines you refer to would be supercharged and 200hp +

Although the Etec 115ho raced for a year or two prior to its homologation !!
