Allhallows 2011

Keep up the good work Dave! 8 possibly 9 entrants now, so looking a little better!

The weekend kicks off to an early start for the training day on Saturday - theory first in The Alex Edmunds Training Centre, followed by on the water practical sessions at high water over the lunchtime and more race training theory after lunch.

The Shakedown race itself starts at midday on Sunday, where 3 possibly 4 potential World 3B participants will be put through their paces and eye up the competition. In addition we will again be treated to the fabulous sight of John and Martin in the Midas Cat once again rounding off the square circuit in spectacular fashion!

Just praying that the good weather holds now...........

Allhallows 2011

Just found a great campsite a mile from the AYC Clubhouse, for anyone looking for cheap accommodation as the weather's fine. £12.50 per night for tent, car + 2 persons and they currently have room. Set in the grounds of a large country house with bar, plasma screen tv, shower facilities etc.

See www.allhallowsplacetouringpark.co.uk for more details and a downloadable booking form.

big thank you to everyone involved in this week end i had a great time!

I would like to say a few things, i was asked to make a speech ( jokingly i'm sure) but i was a bit choked up to get the Steve Baker trophy and not much would have came out if i had tried.

It was a pleasure and an honour to accept a trophy for sportsmanship from this event and whats more to have my name put forward by whomever.
Thank you so much. It was a joy taking part and i am glad i could help out with C-77 mishap ( hook and a crew member thrown out, he was ok by the way). At the risk of sounding like a ms world entrant or oscar winner, i was truly humbled and honestly i think this trophy means more to me than race wins i have had the luck to get and various other pots.
To be recognised as a good sportsman is is very touching particulary when i have seen some of the great names already on the pot and the fact that its was from Mr S Baker himself is amazing( albeit the history of the trophy is for round the island and also not meant to leave Kent).

I do talk to people still involved with the race scene and one thing that has popped up is that some of the characters and helping spirit has gone from racing, It is still there, in all of us but you just have to put any differences aside on the water.

If the trophy is for conduct and sportsmanship then i accept it but would like to dedicate it to Alex Edmonds who was always helping out at events and to Ian Stirling, as he was a good sportsman. the idea of this new perenial trophy just about sums these guys up.
Many thanks for letting me bore you.

On a lighter note, was good to see some old faces and new bods too.
I did not like being greeted by the Butt plug stuck on my dash board so a guantlet has now been laid down by a certain someone! (Neil).

Allhallows 2011

The results from the Allhallows Shakedown Race 2011 are as follows:

1 C13 Circle Express Brian Peedell/George Butler
2 926 NWJ SERVICES Neil Jackson/Jason Jackson
3 33 RENEGADE Paul Hastings/Stuart Dick
4 A17 Priestley Racing Daniel Priestley/Ash Jennings
5 A16 Gilbert Racing Mark Priestley/Odette Priestley
6 B28 Tintorera Racing Sharon Atlee/Sheena Williams
7 B27 RAW EDGE RACING Graham Atlee/Natalie Hedges
8 B52 BLITZ RACING Neil Ives/Carl Andrews
9 B92 DIGITAL CLARITY Ashleigh Foulser/Adrian Foulser
10 C77 ANNNAB Graham Reeder/Andrew Fitzgerald
Retd 40 MWA John Hedges/ Martin Warren

Fantastic weather; sun was shining, fast race with some very interesting tanker washes out by the East Blyth! Full race report to follow but just to say what an exciting race, especially between the two front contenders who swopped the lead several times, before BP finally made it across the finish line only 8 seconds ahead of NJ. A big thank-you from the Organising Committee of AYC for the terrific turnout - 11 entrants - 10 successfully trained or retrained candidates and a total of 9 medicals completed for licence applications. Good to see a return to the scene of several 'old' racers and fantastic to see some new younger ones leading the field (more to explain later)

With regard to Paul's post beforehand; I have never seen you lost for words Paul (lol) but you truly deserved this perpetual trophy. To explain, Paul stopped to give aid to the new crew of C77 when navigator Andrew Fitzgerald decided to go for a swim in the vicinity of East Blyth thus losing time himself. He was rewarded for his efforts by the Race Officers for demonstrating a textbook manoeuvre shielding the MOB until the rescue boat arrived on the scene. Good job you honed and polished your skills in this department the day before Paul! (lol) Seriously though all the racers were seen to acknowledge the yellow flag in accordance with the rules and Andrew went on to climb back on board (after being checked over by the Doctor) to continue to gain experience by completing the race.

Well done to everyone who took part and an especially big thank-you to John Hedges and Martin Warren for putting the Midas through its paces the day before and blasting down the start run, despite being forced to retire shortly after. Our grateful thanks go to John Hedges for supplying all the class specific rules for training candidates and competitors alike.

I hope the 2011 season is rewarded by a big turn-out of entrants to each of the next club and national events.
Good Luck to you all and SAFE RACING.

Thanks to AYC,SEPA and all involved for a fantastic weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed myself as did Natalie. A big thank you to Barrie, Sheena, Ian, Sharon, Sian and Sammi for the use of the P16 for the weekend.
2nd in class.
Not bad for someone who was last in a raceboat competitively in 1993.

Paul, question.
There were other boats out there (before and after the race) with what looked like 150 HO's fitted, what happened to them?

A couple of UKFFORC E1500s as Paul said testing, tho previously not allowed to race in the Shakedown hence not racing at the event.

Confused am I !!!!!
"Not allowed to race in the shakedown"? What shakedown?
"Hence not racing at the event". Why not?

The shakedown is the name of the race and in previous years these rigs were not allowed to race. but they are now.
