Allhallows 2011

Allhallows Yacht Club is again, proud to host the new season's first Offshore Powerboat Race on 15-17 April 2011.

The Advance Programme and Entry Forms will be posted here in the next couple of days.

Caravans are available from the adjacent Haven Holidays Park and the prices vary, so we recommend direct dealings with the Haven campsite.

Powerboat PB2 and Powerboat Race Training will be available on the Friday and Saturday, ready for the inaugral '2011 Powerboatacing Racing' concept starting on Sunday the 17th.

All communications can be put through Tom or Mary Downey on 01795 521020; 07584 065979; 07861 149708.

Alternatively contact Barrie or Sheena Williams through this site.

'2011 Powerboatacing Racing'

Hi is this the multi power all clases out together that Bob and others are getting off the ground if so does the format/series have a title yet ? or is being called '2011 Powerboat Racing'.? if a name is required how about 'Open Powerboat Race Series' or '21st Century Powerboat Racing' just an idea.Nic

Nic,
This was the name conjured up by Bob, at the Paris Show in December. When we got up from the lunchtable at midnight, we thought it was a great name, that personified a new angle on powerboat racing. That was just before we achieved our own new angles.
Nothing is cast in stone, it's an experiment for 2011 by OCRDA, ORDA, SEPA and UKOBA.
AYC and RMYC have been doing almost exactly the same thing since the seventies, with the Shakedown and the Cancer Charities races. All we are attempting to achieve is a less formal, but still understandable structure, that might attract a broader range of potential racers.
It's already being done in France, Malta and Scandinavia, with great success -as you know yourself, from recent personal experience in Corsica - and wasn't that a superb event and great fun too.
The commercial and non-traditional classes in the UK, such as PI SS, UKFF and Zapcat have demonstrated that there is potential to attract new blood into the sport, by creating interest, marketing the sport outside of the usual arenas and then providing easy access into the sport.
These classes currently run under prescriptive rules (not always a bad thing and proved to be a great leveller), so our intention is to aim at the club boat market, where there are a lot of boats, which don't necessarily fit exactly to the current PB1/UIM rules. Let's get the boats first then write the rules to suit the majority, not the minority.
If there is a sufficient core of PB1/UIM class compliant boats in any class, currently two, then a National Championship points tally can be kept, so that the National Championship can be awarded at the end of the season.

I think its a great idea and if it gets more people/boats out racing all the better.I can't commit to any racing plans yet for this year but would certainly hope to be involved. If Corsica was anthing to go by it will be great,Best Of Luck I hope you get the support/entries you deserve.PS I wasn't disagreeing with the name just wasn't sure what the series was being called and besides Bob would wack me if I disagreed,Cheers Nic

Hmm, is it a good idea for P1 and Super Stock to race together? Although "P1SS" does have a kind of ring to it...

Sounds good Barrie.

If you need rescue boats I'm sure some of the Northern Exposure Rescue team would be willing to help support the event for you. Just drop me or Will a line.

Best of luck either way.

Allhallows 2011

Please find attached Race Instructions and Entry Form for the forthcoming Allhallows Shakedown & Training Event on 16th & 17th April 2011.

As we will now have a doctor present at the training course as well as on race day, in accordance with the new RYA Powerboat Race Training syllabus, we have arranged with Dr. Rocos for race medicals to be carried out at this venue by appointment. The cost will be £35, if any crews wish to take advantage of this, prior to the beginning of the season. It would be helpful for AYC to know in advance how many crews are attending to help offset this cost.

Also, it is now mandatory that crews attending the shakedown race have a copy of their 2011 class specific rules available at signing in. Please contact us if you are participating in order that we can arrange to have sufficient copies available, if you have not already received yours directly from the RYA.

Any queries, please contact Tom or Mary Downey on 07584 065979 or myself on 01634 221606.

Looking forward to seeing you at the first event for 2011.

Allhallows 2011

Thanks Dave for your kind comments - I hope Allhallows are able to field a good entry to kickstart the season!

Apologies everyone - due to no takers and at this short notice, there will now be no additional PB2 training offered prior to the Powerboat Race Training Course on 16th April. This may be available later in the season by contacting the Club directly.

The Powerboat Race Training will go ahead as publicised and an Agenda will be sent through shortly to those who have requested a place on the course.

Allhallows 2011

New Candidates/trainees for the Training Day on Saturday stand at 4 possibly 5, with entries for the Shakedown event on the Sunday at 6 so far.

4 requests for medicals have been received to date and will be prioritised around the 'on the water' practical training session from noon until 2pm on the Saturday.

AYC have gone to a lot of trouble to provide training/medical facilities at affordable prices and a beginning of the season Shakedown event to herald the start of Powerboat 2011, so please post to let them know if you are attending, so that the necessary arrangements can be made.

Allhallows 2011

Just a reminder that the traditional AYC Shakedown Race takes place next weekend - sadly there are only 6 entrants to date to the Powerboat 2011 Club race! If anyone else is considering entering, please contact the race organisers to let them know you are coming, even if you intend entering on the day! Don't leave it till the last minute, as the number of rescue boats, trophies and paperwork requirements are dependent on entry.

As you know, this is preceded by a training day on the Saturday, for any potential new competitors and any racers who have not competed in the past two years, to update themselves on the new rules.

Training Agendas are available now and any candidates/competitors requiring AYC passes into the Haven complex should e-mail the race organisers to obtain a copy.
