Alto Valente

Tim Powell asked me today where "Alto Valente" was.

38' Sony Levi design.

Raced circa '73-'74.

Any help would be appreciated.

No idea.
TP had lunch today with the original owners and they wanted to know where their old racebat was.

Thinking about it better than asking Shaun, ask the "Black Widow" sort of thing she would know or John Walker, he has great memory of who ,what where..................Great knowledge

Alto Volante

There were 2 Alto Volante's the first was a cut down version of the Levi Cheverton CRUISER, raced in mid to late 60's then vanished, was found and restored and I think later raced under the name Magic Dragon.
the other was Sonny Levi's one off design, correct Red and creamy white superstructure with goalpost aerofoil structure, raced mid 70's..lovely boats where are both of them?

Thank you Mike. A good post as opposed to 2 ex Class 1 navigators who should know better and an ex member of the most notorious class 3 team in the '80's.

Mike - sorry to open up an old thread. I came across this info during a search a for a boat that we recently bought. I think it might be 'Magic Dragon'. I've located and contacted Chris Carrington who used to own her. I am just waiting for confirmation from him that it is the correct boat. She is in a sorry state of repair at the moment and in need of a full refit, but I can add pictures if anyone would be interested?

Many thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee,
Good to hear that Magic Dragon (aka Alto Volante) has been found.
Mike (Thunderbolt)is Commodore of COPC (Classic Offshore Powerboat Club), of which I am Secretary.
If you anticipate restoring the boat, why not join COPC - hopefully we might be able to assist in your task. Unashamed advertising I know, but if we can assist.............
I think there are some pix of the boat in our archieve.
Martin.
