Thumbs down ben ridd

as many of you know ben was unfortnatly injured in a power boat crash in weymouth 2005. ben has almost made a full recovery and was hoping to race this season having past his medical and every thing he needed to and has put in a lot of training to be able to do this. but unfortunatly due to a article by the echo he has lost his sponsership and is unable to race.

so if any of you know any one that could provide sponsership for ben then it would be most appreichiated.

many thanks

john

I think a lot of what was published is in the MAIB report possibly summariesd the way the press only know how.

If you havent read it the see URL http://www.maib.dft.gov.uk/publicati..._powerboat.cfm
You need to read the full pdf version
MAIB do raise some issues which are not for debate here. IMHO but for WORK & the RYA

Yes but I gather the younger classes are now solo time trials & handling skills. I'm sure they could confim it.
I must confess once Midas is done my 13 year old is up for a shot thats next winters project........

Ben and KClass

As you can see from the above links the authorities and the media are 9 months out of date and the press have not had the decency to talk to the club just make assumptions.

Ben was out in our first basic race this year in March and won the opening K400 (fletcher 14) race with his brother Max.

The WORK team have done so much hard work following the incident and in all areas have had to lead the authorities.

To that effect there is now a fully documented syllabus and training programme approved by the said authorities with an indenpendent assessment for all racers in place.

The authorities seem to omit the fact that there were event risk assessments in place plus the developement of the classes constitued risk assessment by reducing risks of forseen hazards.

Rant over now, KCLASS is looking forward and have got 7 national championship rounds across the UK this year.

This weekend we mustered 12 teams across the classes and put on 6 races over 2 days at Allhallows.
The atmosphere was excellent the support from AYC second to none this is the spirit of the sport showing through.

On a technical none this was the fist ever MAIB investigation into a powerboat racing incident.

The WORK web site gives more details of what we're doing so worth a quick look. www.wandaoffshore.co.uk

As I mentioned the press do love creative editing. Regardless of the date of the report thay did make some observations which are a quite a discussion topic within the K class enviroment and all racing if you read between the lines.
It was a while ago & I am sure all there comments & suggestions have been taken on board as you state.
It would have been benifical to have an experienced Racer included as you say this is the first into racing MAIB have held. The previous ones have all been police / Coroner investigations. Though I'm not sure on the Victory incident.
