Big respect to you racers!

I did a quick lap of the Isle of Wight this morning in a 10m Scorpion RIB. The sea state was "interesting" in places - especially heading past St Catherine's back up towards the Needles.

My back, legs & arms ache & I feel like I have been in a fight!

I suppose you train for this & get used to it?

I did a run on friday from southampton to Exmouth and the weather was horrible. Forcast was F8 and it was on the nose the whole way! Had to pull into Cowes first to get some more weight up in the nose. We made it to Weymouth at 11.30pm, so got a hotel and then hugged the coast up chesel beach and had a good run down to Exmouth on Saturday. Lyme Bay was interesting to say the least.

We didn't time it, as we were just heading out for a blast. I drove from Lymington past Cowes & handed over the helm around Ryde. We were doing about 50 knts most of the way except for the lumpy passage around St Katherine's were we dropped to about 30 knts for aprrox 10 minutes.

It was quick for a pair of non racers though

I've been in a few races round the island when some of the raceboats werent goin that fast it was that bad. Including us.

You got back where you started, the right way up and everything still working.

Indeed, especially when it's not your boat!

Well, Martin & I have just worked out the times up & down the river to Lymington & subtracting that makes the lap just over the hour.

I'll take respectable any day from a racer
