Doing these levels of training then they're probably a RTE (registered training establishment) the sort of training carried out by many regional clubs etc.

If Rupert is still after race training then Neil H, who advertises on BM, is one of the few that can, but with the rule changes for new drivers all clubs have to verify race type training before endorsing licence applications, might be just the juniors but worth checking out.

Some categories of licence on the application form are anoted (TR) and this means training required, but not all classes have this.

Bournemouth 23rd + 24th June

Well done Scotty !
Good races both days - I thought you & C27 made a good race with the Big Fountain (1200 hp) on Sunday - it looked good from top of westcliff.
Wonder how much James was holding in reserve, but the 2 litre boats put on a great show, I thought.
Saturday was good too - pity the council did not advise that the pier would be open until too late. Hence no commentary for me to do !
Pity there were so few boats in the Cancer Charity Race - can remember 50 + some years ago, when basic races were easy to enter, & not so dear either, as now.
Thats "progress" I Guess !!!
Well done to all who raced - sympathy to Spinksey, who hurt his back on Sunday, He & Dave Spurling had to pull out 'cause of it !

Yes 50+ some years back...next year will be the most boats ever as I assume it will be set 2 weeks earlier than the RB 08 event and advertised as the last chance in a competitive environment to shake down your rig against the other racers, and this will still leave 2 weeks to sort out any problems found...a chance an entrant may be foolish to overlook

Unhappy

Well, two weeks may not be enough to repair the damage.

We are looking at several weeks damage. The inside of the boat has snapped in half, and the cockpit is loose in the boat. The external visable damage of the delamination is minor, the inside stringers are delaminated and shattered.

My navigator has also been signed off work for a week by the doctor, having severe bruising over most of her body, and I have two nice 70mm thick seatbelt bruises over the shoulders.

The camera we fitted for the race - which is rated for 25g's - has broken. The glass at the front has shattered, and the PCB has broken inside the case! ( it was still securely fitted, and did not fall out of the cradle! )

Additionally we have to replace the seatbelts, as the stress indicator stitching has shown red.

Ouch...

Double ouch...there are 3 solutions...1 drive slower 2 build it like the ARK 3 only do 1 event a year

Recon it was a pity that Sunday was not poss due to all that damage, would have been great to see how much harder the fountain would have had to push to claim victory could of been a re-run of last year with that big Sunseeker on yer tail all race...anyhow hope all goes well with the repairs boat and body

Which big Fountain are you referring to Martin?

Your head is always a good place.

no - seriously. Your neck acts like a shock absorber for your head, and the camera is always pointing at something interesting. It is easy to add a helmet cam attachment.

I think there's a lot to be said for a helmet cam - as you say, you'll always be looking at the action. Just a shame it wobbles around so much.

I leave choice of Fountain to you Ben !!!

I, of course, meant the twin engined hard chine one, with a charicteristic "beak" at its bow - as owned by James Sydenham.
I sounded great in a grey Poole Bay on Sunday.

Hope your weather is better on your side of the pond than ours is Ben.

I think Jimbo is just a passenger, the boat belongs to Freddie. Although as they tend to dress the same, it's an easy mistake to make.

'Jimbo' may not own the boat, but Sunday he drove, throttled and navigated the boat to the win ( stealing MY trophy in the process. )
