BPRC announce dates.

The British Powerboat Racing Club (BPRC) plans to expand in 2009 by concentrating on long distance offshore races. With this in mind the club is putting in place two new long distance offshore events during the coming year. The full programme has yet to be agreed with the RYA but the proposed calendar is follows.

May 2009* Poole - Cherbourg - Poole Challenge

June 2009* 1,100 mile 6 day race in the Mediterranean

August 2009* Cowes Torquay Cowes / Cowes Classic

New rules are to be introduced that the BPRC hopes will form the basis for all National & International "Marathon" offshore racing in the immediate future.

The highly successful Round Britain Race and the re-emergence of the prestigious Cowes Torquay Cowes Race in 2008 has renewed interest from other leading offshore racing clubs. The BPRC hope to see the famous "Needles Trophy" being staged once again by the Poole based Royal Motor Yacht Club in July while another long distance race is also being planned in September 2009 by UKOBA.

This has been welcomed by those interested in reviving genuine offshore racing. Great Britain is now not only leading the way in long distance racing it is also encouraging other countries in Europe to plan similar events. This includes a possible revival of the Venice to Monte Carlo last held more than a decade ago.

Is this a fun post?

Or are you as slow as that P1 publicity person you were coating off the other night?

P.S. VAT is down to 15%

Wind your neck in you little poof

It was actually a "cut and paste" from MBY, and my intention was to follow it up with criticism of the fact that there wasn't actually any dates shown. This didn't happen as the apprentice had just made the tea, and so I forgot to do it.
