Container ship is about 50 miles to the west !
Boscombe Pier is closed for refurbishment - redevelopment of beach area at Boscombe (Not before time !).
Repairs also to Bournemouth Pier, as several others have confirmed.
Container ship is in Lyme Bay, off Branscombe, west of Bridport, not forgetting that St Albans Head, Weymouth & Portland Bill are between there & Bournemouth.
Hopefully no debris, or stray containers will make it past Portland & St Albans, into Poole Bay before the race. If they do, then it will almost certainly be a "No Go".
The BM Race was cancelled some years ago, in perfect conditions, due to a ship loosing lots of timber, which was swilling around Poole Bay at the time.
These things tend to make a mess of small fast boats !!!

places to watch the race
Basically the pub is above the imax cinema.. I think cfun might be right that the westcliff zig zag is higher but I dont think. it would be a problem to try the pub and the zig zag to find the best view. Ta

Cool! I was thinking about getting the formula out to watch it, but it's been a bit too cold over the last couple of weekends to get it ready - and I couldn't really be arsed.
