Buying a seat in the RB11

Had a phone call yesterday from someone who may be interested in buying a seat in the RB11, happy to be just a passenger, but willing to pay extra if able to "take the wheel" or similar.

Anyone one have any thoughts of what the going rate would be, ideally in a class front runner.

£5,000 would be fair.

In my opionion, it would depend on what boat and also the amount of seats, ie if your in one of the top classes with only two seats, the cost for one of them would be higher than a boat with 4 seats and in a lower class. The cost can be shared more and the cost to run the boat would be less.

We are having 4 seats fitted for RB11, three of them will have a stick on steeering wheels!

We are also having a complete re-fit so that we dont break the record for being rescued again, and also we don't want the Eddie Stobart Trophy again!

If interested he can PM me.

Hate to say it but 2011 and 2012 look dead in the water.

last news news on 2011 web site was 4 months ago ( Dean your a great guy )and 2012

If organisers want new and old blood into this sport then you need to work harder to get there interest.
Like him or loath him John kept the interest going for RB8 and got people/ teams involved
As a PR failure check out round ireland 10

Barry

RB11 were waiting for the ORC mtg to take place...... to get the race in next years calender, the Feb mtg was cancelled so we had to wait for the mtg last week, the website is being updated as new entries are added

This approval has now been gained....things can start motoring now, there was very little point wasting anybodies time until we had the date approved

Have a look at the website Tuesday night to see the approved ( & changed) route..... then put some 525's in ya boat!! ....

I've every confidence that the Round Britain 2011 will not only happen, but be great.
By the end of this season, the various new boats in build will be sorted, tested, improved etc, and I feel absolutely sure most of the guys who went round last time will gagging for another shot at it and hopefully a few more to boot.

As the time draws nearer, I'd be more concerned about being refused entry because the numbers are capped, than about it not happening. C'mon Barry, stand shoulder to shoulder with us and help push it into being another historic landmark, ditch the negativity.

What Jon said re 2011

I take it you haven't met Stuart from RB12 yet then Barry? I'm sure once you've had a chat then you will have a slightly different look at everything - there is still a long time between now and both of these races!

I think £5000 is about right, and as a four seat boat we have already had some interest at this level - for Cowes! I think there are a lot of factors such as the class, likelihood of a good performance, and the expenses.

We still have a lot to do before we can consider ourselves entrants, but we are still hoping to make it, so form a queue here!
