Chairperson ORC

So come on flightracing team, is it true that Gary has put himself up for chairmanship of the ORC?

On what grounds (knowledge & experience) would he expect to attain that position.

I can't see that being true.

This is a genuine post, not intended as a slant on Gary, as I don't know him. I just wondered what his credentials were to apply for such a job.

Chris

The answer to that is simple NO i have not put myself up for chairman of ORC, however i have been put up for chairmanship of ORC along with others.

As you may or may not know i already sit on ORC as i am chairman of the race administration management committee and i am also chairman of the course approvals committee and yes i sit on the clubs and classes committee.

Just for good measure i am a RYA commissioner and a safety officer, and if that is not enough Denise is an RYA race secretary, a RYA time keeper, she sits on the race administration managment committee and she sits on course approvals as well.

All i will say is if people support me or do not support me it is a free country, but i will say that Powerboat racing needs to move forward and stop looking back. Just for the record i am not only in this for the Hotboats Racing Association, i give my time and effort to help every class and club if i can.

What i will tell everybody openly on this forum is that i am 100% for Powerboat Racing, i am 100% for getting the sport where it needs to go and i will continue to put 200% effort into trying to acheive this.

Just so that everyone knows you don't get paid for this, you give your time freely. The work that we both do at present amounts to over 20 hours a week, god knows how many phone calls, emails and meetings.

So support me or not that is your choice, but never say that we do not put the effort in because we do and we will continue to do so because WITHOUT PEOPLE who put themselves in the line of fire and try to do all they can you guys don't get to go racing.

Over the years, there have been countless people who have put huge amounts into powerboat racing and done outstanding work, but I think it's fair to say, I've never heard anyone blow their own trumpet the way you do. You could compete with Priddy!!! (Olympic-gold class trumpet blower)

Voting papers sent to clubs today

Gary Manchester

Dave Simpkins

Procedure now; Powerboat clubs, with voting power, have until 24th April to vote for one of the candidates.
The list of clubs is in PB1.

And as for ORC being full of freeloaders. I have been involved in organisation of Offshore Powerboat Racing for 20 years and can promise you that it is:-
Harder work than work
For more hours
In Worse conditions
For no thanks
Ooh hotel paid for, big deal
And tends to cost more, than one could have earned for the same amount of hours, at work!

Could we not register the ORC as a charity as it's such pig rotten thing to have to do, then they could apply for lottery funding. just cant help feeling sorry for the toil & bondage that they suffer.

Dear Blufin

Thank you for your kind words of support. It makes it all worthwhile.
Mind you, if you think I'm bad. Just think about who is going to replace me.

Now dont take it that way.
Fact is seen it so many times, cheap B&B friday night, 10 am Saturday goes on the club clock so to speak whoosh checks in to the Royal Bath. Dont have a problem with that if they were to stay in the RB the first night. just for the sake of it as it's a paid for is not correct & taking the piss. I'm sure things have changed greatly nowadays and there is a much tigher control of OOPE and such abuse does not occur.
Races know they cannot race without the people that put in the out of hours effort and quite rightly expenses covered.
I'd love to put some time in for anybody thats wants it but that wicked great reblious streak never went away and far to anti-establishment.

Royal Yacht whatever.........
Long live the republic...... drop the first word & I'll send them me membership fee. power to the people up the revolution

Oh and the RYS in Cowes can be torched just like the Bastille

RMYC gets a get out jail card as I love them
