Class 1 Spanish GP Cancelled

IOTA FORCED TO CANCEL SPANISH GRAND PRIX
Monday, 18 May: IOTA, the organiser of the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, has confirmed that due to circumstances beyond its control, it has been forced to cancel the Spanish Grand Prix. “Despite all our efforts and numerous attempts to maintain the running of the 2009 Class 1 Spanish Grand Prix, which was due to be held in Alicante on 7 June, we have, regrettably, been forced to cancel the race, having had to accept the fact that not all the necessary conditions which would have enabled the event to go ahead on the scheduled date were in place,” said IOTA General Secretary, Marco Sala, adding, “We are, however, currently looking at other venues in order to maintain the regularity of Events in the running of the 2009 Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.”

Phew! I won't be thinking about some of you guys having fun without me whilst basking on the shores of Centre Parcs Longleat; thinking about things that could have been whilst being 'determined' to give my little ones some rare quality time!

Oh for the shores of Longleat;
that great bastion of vacances.
How I long for Longleat
with her great running canyon
that sits amid the forest of dew and mist...
and and and
the flat-footed mountain bikes ride by
where mountains dream to exist
and creatures run and hide

Well I guess there's always Italy?

For whatever reason it's what's happening to Powerboat Racing this year - right across the board. Let's hope that next year it will be better.

Strange how two neighbouring councils can be so different.

Valencia has / is holding the America's Cup and Formula One whilst Alicante can't sort out a boat race.

Shame I was looking forward to going.
