That was a Pork Pie.

Apparently it's tradition to put some chicken wings in the turbine exhaust at start up and give em a bit of a singe (cook).

In sympathy with the British culture, at Coniston the Yanks put a Pork Pie in there instead of the wings. On the video you can just hear a womans voice mention the chicken wings.
