P1's were good to watch, though KeraKoll and Donzi were DQ'd on Sat, read powerboatp1.com for details.
We didn'y make the start of the basic due to problems, possibly stator. Uncle lost lid so stopped, spinsky retired, so did Mr Noisy, Marc Lamont won, apparentley he had to jump over V24 after he was cut up on a turn, V2 should be DQ'd as they were running inshore of the marshall boats - about 50-70 feet from the beach. Race was red-flagged due to a large container ship heading towards the course on it's way to the docks.
Frenzy was towed into the pits this afternoon with the port sternside sitting about 6-8 inches lower than it should, within two minutes they were reaching underwater to attach the strops and the water was halfway up the cowl.
Dog Hamilton went out and did the start run for Saturdays race but then retired before completing a lap, didn't bother leaving the pits Sunday.
Met a few forum members - Carly Baby, Marc + Ana, Ciao and others. Had long chats with Boss Builder, Barry Culver, in the anchor, learnt plenty!!
Saw JF and chaos and was allowed aboard Leviathan! Cheers for that jon,
Sure there's plenty more, this is only what i can recall for now...
Hope it's better than nothin, Max

Marc Lamont got protested ( 9 times out of 10 races )
Officials took the protest money and turned down the protest for 'technical reasons'.
Cowes itself was great. The organisation was not so great.

very good water for our aerobatic display for everyoneto watch also had a sustained period where a snorkel may have been of use however still not broken anything still not touched anything i will not hear the word maintenance spoken in my presence however we did have to cable tie a few things after the first race (battery, intercom, fuses,my helmet, navi's head, etc) glad we didnt win cos the trophys would have been too hard to lift up NOT bit poor for £350 imho only speaking for myself that is

Thanks Gav, missed you there actually. We will see ya in POOOLE!
I would post a picture of 'First Place Trophy', but Ana left it on the dashboard of the truck on the way home and it melted.
I ate mine at Cowes. Chocolate medalions are cool trophies!

Hey,
Amanda here (Ben Mazur's daughter)...was actually a great weekend. Was the best for spectators that I have known (especially down at Egypt point where there was a turn).
My dad (who was throttling Mr Noisy) didn't make it paticularly far, and the Basic Race was curtailed anyway due to a ship coming through (I think)....think that it was slightly unfair that they didn't restart the race.. oh well.
P1's put on a good show with some pretty amazing manoeuvering etc. Rupert has taken some great photos and I hope that these will be up by Friday.
Generally good all round, but not really much put on for competitors like the Ball they used to have at Osbourne House and Prize Giving.
Amanda

At drivers briefing they said they would curtail the race at 12h00 if we were still racing as we were only to be given a 45 minute race slot. As we started late ( all race boats were in the water and ready to race well on time ) we ran a shortened race.
There was no possibility of running the full 60 miles in 45 minutes - it was totally impossible from the start. Even I cant average 80 miles an hour for a race, which would be required to make the distance in the time allowed. Then starting late, then a 5 minute delay at the actual muster area.... The best we could hope for was to complete the minimum distance for National points.
Ana actually predicted the exact time they would curtail the race, and started the countdown for me. She was FOUR minutes wrong!
The container ship was hanging around for two laps. The 100% reason with no doubt was that the organisers needed to keep to their schedule, and we were a totally irrelevant class for their event.
On cowespowerboatfestival.com there is no news or photographs of our race, nor is there any pictures of anyone getting prizes(sic) or the results of any race except the HONDA and P1 races. The rest of us were there to add publicity to the actual event, and were of no importance.

Going on what happened in the Honda 225 race the Container ship had anything to do with it. During the 225s race a container ship was getting closer and closer. We phoned in from the safety boat and got no decision made as the ship closed in on the 225s. Eventually as the last one came round the mark the ship was 30m away and came in close behind it. If any of the boats had flipped going round the corner then there would be no chance to save them - we wouldnt even have been able to get to them before the ship would have been on top of us, let alone get them out and away.

Tricky, is it true you jumped over another v24 and then went up the wrong way on the course??

Agree with you Marc, the message at the briefing seemed quite clear, the basic race (inc the V24's runing for national points) was not high on their list of priorities and if the programme was running late it would be curtailed. Given that virtually all other parts of the programme over ran I not sure why the Basic race could not have continued for several more laps. It appeared quite pre-mediated..... wonder what would have happended if the Tanker appeared during the P1 event ?
Given the time and effort involved in getting a boat prepared, transported to the race etc, not to mention the costs the organisers should behave in a slightly more balanced way.
