To be fair, they did give us, and Frank and Lee in C-9 who were second, a diddy newsboy replica each for the race...unengraved, but thats probably just as well because it saves us running round the room trying to find the right ones, and if theres any left over they can use them in 2011.
It would have taken 10 seconds to mention we were National Champs 2010 , but somehow it got lost in translation. And that took a whole season to achieve. Not one day.
Hey ho.

The protest against B66 Kerakol was due to them loosing their liferaft, & it was found & reported to HM Coastguard.
In the same way that you get DQd if you loose a helmet (Ask JF) or an engine cowling.
The boat has to finish equipped as it started.,
Hence the Race Officers have no option but to DQ & await a protest.

Thanks to Martin
What was omitted on the night was a thank you to Martin for the excellent commentary throughout the weekend and stepping in at the last minute to complete the presentation ceremony.
I understand the dissappointment after a very punishing race that the under 300hp CPC racers were overlooked, the 'News Boys' are safe at the Prospect and can be presented at the ORDA Dinner. Rose will be invited as an ORDA guest.

I'll second that! Many thanks Martin for bravely helping us interpret the output from the trackers (at least most were working!) on the big screen at CYH. It made a huge difference over previous CTCs to be able to follow the progress of the race so closely. For us, this innovation was a big step forward.

Yes agree fully, that inovation (the tracker screen)was superb, we could of done with that idea years ago!
May be also that screen could be on the parade as well as the green to give more information to the turn up on the day spectators which there hundreds maybe thousands lined up all the way down to Gurnard expecting to see a 10am start for the CTC, but as we anorak's new, that it was a 9.15 departure from Cowes not 10.

Not withstanding everything else said here, i can fully understand the frustration of lack of recognition for some of the racers here! we did a meager 60 miles on sunday spectating and im aching today so what the competitors have been through deserves some recognition!
from a slightly geeky point, i have to say, we were listening to M1 on the VHF to hear what was going on and i personally thought it was very well controlled and lets not forget, safety is paramount in all events!!
as an aside, if i wanted to look at donating some trophies for next year, who would i need to talk to??
Cheers

I've mentioned this before. Brilliant if there are folk who want to offer up their own 'perpetual' trophy for the 'whatever', but maybe we could organise some sort of whip round each year, open to everyone to donate, to at least have competitor's medals or rosettes. After 2 minutes on google I found bespoke ribboned medals at £2.50, or cheap and nasty at £1.

Thanks Guys - It was great being able to do what we have not ever been able to before, thanks to RB12 !
I remember as a teenager standing at Cowes & @ Torquay, just waiting for news, as the "black hole" of Lyme Bay was crossed !
The system can be improved by 2011 I think, & the pixelation on the big screen needs fixing. Our laptop in the marquee showed it very well.
The mention of spectators on The Parade, The Green etc., means that not everyone got the message about the course, & that the Race Village was "Where it was at". We must try to publicise this for 2011 (IMHO)
- hopefully this can be an ongoing progression, with our great sponsors, who, we must remember, keep the race alive !
Cheers to RB12, Red Funnel, Wight Vodca, Hendriks, Jarvis of St.James, & all the others who help keep the dream alive !
Thank you one & all !

yup, could you maybe pm me an e mail address?
Its a long story but i do know there are some very old trophies belonging to a club i have an association with that could maybe be available but there would be some restrictions on where they can be held.
if we start now maybe we can beat through all the club politics before 2011!!!

Huge congratulations to Phil Boarer and Martin Munday in Grey Ghost (Class D) in coming 4th overall beating Tony Toll in his Apache and only a couple of MPH slower than Cinzano.. That is one hell of an achievement in such conditions in a standard production boat - Respect.
Please PM me. Would love to hear your story!
PS to Chris Davies: Can we please see some of your pics from the chopper Chris?
ML.
