Its the only form of racing that i know of with a rule like this?

Take its the R.Y.A themselves???

Hmmmn.... The race is a week away. We have boooked our accomodation on the Island, and the ferry. And we dont know when our race is, as it appears to have 'dropped' off the list, but still is on the entry form.
Can 'HIM' cast any light on that?
Are we amalgamated with the Class3 race like ORDA does it?
Or what is happening?

I'm guessing Alan (HIM) if hoping for the race seeing as Ben is flying back from America to race!! Hope it goes ahead as was one of the reasons for going for the whole weekend.

Oh, I thought 'HIM' was someone else My fault.
I would hope that Ben does get his race. Perhaps the event needs to be organised on a non-long weekend, so that the traditional round the island can take place.
That is one race I really enjoyed two years ago. I was actually in the lead from the needles to St Caths, but finished fourth at the end. Apart from some sail boats testing my high speed handling skills, everything about that race is a good memory.

I'm sure Ben hopes he gets his race too! From last year I thought that the Basic round the island race was one of the better ones as it saw lots of people to not neccesarily race taking to the water and having fun. I was hoping that in the next few year to be able to have a go myself. It would be a shame to lose it as its probably one of the better basic races and encumpasing the whole island seems a great course too.

My understanding is that the basic race (The Isle of Wight Powerboat Challenge) will take place on Sunday at either 10:45 or 11:15. The multilap course is 59.16 nm and is essentially the same course P1 ran last year from Egypt Point. V24 will race with the basic boats.
Should be an interesting mix going round the cans on a tight course with everything from Tony Hamilton's 40 footer to 16 foot Phantoms vying for the same piece of water.

This is what I am lead to believe. I am also reliably informed that the original to V24 National races have been cancelled!
I am still to find out if the inclusion of the V24's in the basic racewill result in National Points or if it is just a basic race.
Neither the RYA or Rory Powers is responding to emails, except they RYA advise me there is an issue and they will respond.

Here's a couple of PDF's you can download & print, they were emailed to me from the RYA 5 minutes ago.
instructions
chart
Basic entry boats are welcome for the race (Isle of Wight Powerboat Challenge), which will now be on Sunday, at 11.15, however, because of an overcrowded pit area, these basic entries would be far better brought over on their bottoms, and they'll be given space in the wet pits.
The 09.15 briefing is still TBC

So if the 2litres have their own race does that mean they're not in the basic race? Resulting in a minimal entry of 2ltr boats in the basic race? And a good chance for 1st in class for us?

Tony's 40 footer (it used to be called Private Entry) will be racing in P1 Evolution with me as navigator - I just had an email from Sheila telling me that my P1 licence has been approved!
