It appears P1 have stolen the thunder by announcing they are to run the CTC

I think teams that always fancied doing the CTC will do the P1 version a race...people that fancied doing a poker run style cruise may still be interested, but I would of thought any help from the authorities will be out the window as they will already of helped with the P1 event and just will not want to know

The P1 version should be a basic like their around the island in 2007. I would definately do that run if there is more information comming from the RYA..

as the guy organising it, i can help on this.......the idea is to give all relevant classes the chance to race,- the more the merrfer as far as I'm concerned we'll be using the RB08 classes as a start point, then tweak them to make sure that we a) respect the traditional rules of the race, b) enable all current or future P1 supersport or evolution class boats to participate ( Fuel tank capacity allowing) and b) that any boats that are safe and seaworthy get a chance to take part.

all constructive suggestions and comments welcome either here or at jim otoole@powerboatp1.com

As Jim O'Toole is listed as Managing Director of P1 somehow I don't think you could say fairer than that, and he seems to be ready to listen and help so maybe the CTC will be restored to it's former glory...Now all I need is a bigger boat

fees etc

we'rw working with the pbrc on a realistic budget .....lots to factor in..BUT the goal is to make it as doable as possible for the guys that matter, you racers ...don't want to lose money on it but are prepared to invest to make it memorable as a race and as a show.....we will be realistic on entry fees.

we are very excited about the project for a number of reasons and hope that we can deliver what you guys have been talkign about for a little while, ie the oroginal CTC, as per mails, there is only one version of this event, the original, that is what we re trying to recreate

btw, typo on earlier mail my e mail is jim.otoole@powerboatp1.com

best

Jim .

Dates

I have just noticed that the P1 race in Tunisia is June 20/21/22.

So that will mean a conflict with the 2008 Round Britain race.

So that "knocks" four boats off the entry list for the 2008 Round Britain race.

So in the above post you say "as far as I'm concerned we'll be using the RB08 classes as a start point", and then you hold an event the same weekend as the 2008 Round Britain race.

But will they drop out of RB8. There are many P1 races but may be only 1 Round Britain Race. Doesn't compare in my book

The four boats have been compromised either way Barry.
Why have they been put in this position?
(PS enjoyed the Guinness with you at the show yesterday!)
