We did only have one engine for 100 of the 200 mile race. Less than ideal.

Congratulations indeed. A great result and I'd be the first to congratulate the Cinzano team, but spare a thought for Mike & Dave Deacon, who were only beaten by a few seconds in a much smaller boat, with half the power and a max speed of probably 25mph less than Cinzano. Not bad after 200 miles of rough water racing, in fact, I would say an outstanding performance. So hats off to them too.

All said & done, Markus is a great character and keen competitor, and I hope he'll be back next year to defend his title. Powerboating needs characters like Markus to brighten things up. He even has a great sense of humour and as we know, as a general rule, German humour is no laughing matter! So well done Markus, keep up the good work.

Classic Shot

The pic I`m waiting to see is that of Swipewipes going skywards off Anvil which hopefully our heli-man has snapped, being as he was zig zagging across the course trying to home in on the erratic courses taken. As Jonny approached, the boat attained what looked like 45 degrees with the outdrive skeg a good 6ft clear of the oggin and just hung there for a moment, then went on to repeat the performance on route to St.Albans.The chopper was hovering over the boat while this acrobatic display went on.If they weren`t pushing to make up time ,I doubt if it would have been as dramatic.

One would hope so, or there could be some serious egg on peoples faces following 'published comments'!

yep that's the one

watched it race quite a few times before the Brit's bought it

it appeared to be mostly reliable in nearly all the race's I watched it in so they obviously new a few things on how to keep those Isotta's ticking along and it's surface drives kicked up a nice rooster tail

Totally agree on Markus's humour just worried it is Eric's influence! Claire
