Does anybody know the outcomes of the RYA/ORC meeting?
The little I have heard is the ORC will be re-formed, and by racers!
Could that be true?
Will RYA open a vein?
Enquiring minds .... etc.
Bob

Chaired/Led by Puddifoot and before him Dredge who mostly ignored that bag of cats (with more than a little justification.)
Allegedly, this is various racing orgs, who elect an ORC factotem and the RYA says, "Yes'sir, it shall be done." ... possibly in regards to 4 or 5 BEEG races, and (gasp) maybe simplified, harmonised licensing?
I am not holding my breath.

Again not quite true, it was Chaired by Simon Wood Power until recently.
The ORC will be made up of representatives elected by the "Active Race Organising Clubs" one per Club, the Clubs then have to ballot their members for whom their members wish to be the ORC Chairman the resultant winner of each Clubs ballot is then the person who is put forward by that Club as their suggested ORC Chairman, the RYA will then decide from all of the nominees who is the most popular and appoint that person.

I think I agree with your 'at this time' thoughts.
I am very much in favour of there being less RYA in powerboating, and perhaps this could be a cautious step forward.

There is a set protocol within the RYA constitution on matters like this.
It won't take long to instate a new ORC Committee and Chairman.
Racers will be better represented by their clubs and transparency will hopefully prevail.
The objective is to be more inclusive and not be dictated to by a small 'Executive Committee' with it's own agenda.
It's only a sport! It's not politics or money making.
We could have a great future if we all tried hard enough.

Just to wish the new ORC all the best of luck and fortune - really hope the clubs and the RYA can work together and make many positive changes.

Some really interesting assumptions !! Outcome ! Its gone from ORC to Clubs & Classes, Back to ORC to reduced (more workable) ORC and now "Clubs" would have had half a chance if it had gone to Classes as was the proposal prior to previous ORC !!
To answer Goatskin there are still no "Racers" on the Committee other than myself if I elect to stand as OCRDA Rep !!
I reiterate Adam "Good Luck" I will give the new committee till beginning of next season when same will happen again.
Worth a mention is that the initial manipulation was for a vote of "No Confidence" in ORC which got a massive vote of 3 to about 12 !!

Which way did the vote go?
If the new ORC can - per Mob BcCarthy - pull of a couple of BIG multi-club, multi-class dates ...
It's a better start than what there is now.
RYA has done everything in their (considerable) power to stunt, trip, castrate Offshore racing, and now they wonder where the competitors are ... boo f'ing hoo.

That is surprising, it in own rite!
There is no such thing as a vacuum, and perhaps ... just perhaps, the new OCR can and will do the stable-mucking better this time.
One hopes, anyhow.

In any kind of no-confidence vote, there are a host of complexities and 'game' matrices, including the ever popular: 'yes Cameron could not lead a shoeless man to a cobbler, but ..., jeeze-o-peete, 'leading' is such a big, scary, complicated, time-consuming job ... and is a lot of work, too. maybe things will get better on their own.'
three (in public) v. how many in a secret ballot?
WOW!
