I can't answer this right now, I'll have to do it later, as I have meetings with Buzzi and Fiat, then a luncheon appointment with Rod Carr at the Golf Club.

Tim, other than one or two rather flakey attempts, I don't see anyone other than Mike and his associates trying to get this thing moving / keep it moving.

He's asked me to help with the technical stuff, as while limited, my knowledge is greater in that department than his. And for your info, Mike is pretty opposed to the majority of Buzzi's proposals.

I won't be responding to you again on this subject, as I don't think you understand it well enough to have a valid opinion, and, if you really had a point to make, I know you'd have PM'd me to voice it privately, rather than attempting this cheap shit-stirring on a public post.

BTW, what has any of this got to do with my comment on GM's post? His post was most certainly a drunken own-trumpet blowing outburst and had no relevance at all to the on-going debate. He just wanted to remind us all, again, how important he 'thinks' he is.

I am no fan of GM but I agree 100%

Concidering Jon you for the last 14/15 years have never had a good word to say about the RYA and rule makers how come you and ML believe you are above everyone and thing you are now the reincarnation of Lewis and Dredge who destroyed this wonderful sport.
Well at least they don’t appear to be up yours which is probably just as well! That’s just about the worst post I have ever seen on Boatmad you ‘orrible man. What have you ever done for the sport?

It is really not worth my time commenting on your nasty little vitriol laden post. How are your plans coming along for your 5 day race then Crombie, we are all waiting to hear?

Calm Down !

Chaps, lest we all forget- we are looking/ posting because we actually like Powerboat Racing ...
I am sure that with a little sensible discussion tempers can be cooled and we can create a real set of rules, that is not biased in too many ways, and allows everyone somewhere near a level playing field.
With a little patience it will be sorted.

"He's behind you!"

Honestly, you lot.

Tim, you're wrong, on all counts.

If someone else wants to try and sort these rules, they're welcome. I'm sick of every Tom, Dick and Harry wanting them altered to fit their particular boat, and people with no understanding whatsoever forcing their opinions down our throats.

If someone wants to step up, do so, I'll be out like a shot. If there isn't anyone willing, then shut it, you're nothing to do with it and no more than a by-standing heckler...go away. The sports been full of those types for too long.

For what it is worth, can I please ask you all to not get so excited & negative about the good things that are taking place in offshore racing.
Re GM's post - I personally agree that whatever is agreed with JP, & all the team who have produced the rules we have seen, ultimatley, those rules WILL have to be approved by the ORC Committee.
They are the 'confirming power' for UK powerboat racing offshore, but I think that any set of rules that have been drawn-up & agreed by all parties involved, [ & whether that includes all competitors, it cannot include those who do not hold an RYA licence in the UK ], I am sure that the agreement will be guided through & be largely a rubber-stamp type operation.
I may not always see eye-to-eye with Gary, but I think his post was meant to be constructive & it seems factual.
Let us all be positive & move forward in these times that are troubled enough, without adding so much negativity, [& hate-red at times,] to so many postings.
I think that, despite not everyone agreeing wholely with the new offshore rules, they are a positive step forward, & to be applauded.
Well done those who took the time to draw up all the details.

A very successful meeting today between a group that we hope will become the regular team dealing with the technical end of things as far as Marathon class goes.

By the time these documents hit the desk in front of 'the great & the good', I think they'll be received quite well.

One or two very small tweeks today, and some notes made for some re-writing of some descriptions over the coming days should get it quite tight.

It's looking like some of the larger 3C Monos would fit in class 5 should they wish to take part and can do the range, which should please a few folk. Who knows, if that old beardy fella, Ian Sterling were 40 years younger, maybe even he could have a go! ...Actually, no, that's a ridiculous thing to say.

FWIW,

Just logical to get all the tee's crossed & the I's dotted before any submission to the proposed controlling authority.

Gary Tim

I was going to join in the vitriol but it's best left.

Save to say that if either of you really believe you support the sport and not your own egos then I would suggest you word your posts in a manner that attracts support from Competitors, Followers and Potential Sponsors as that is what the sport needs.

Taken from the RYA site.

"The RYA is a UK membership organisation for recreational boat owners and crew with over 103,000 personal members. There are an estimated further 500,000 boat owners nationally who are members of RYA affiliated clubs and class associations. We fight unnecessary bureaucracy and threats to boating on behalf of these members and affiliates in the UK and abroad."

While you guys were sharpening your quill's and stabbing each other the Americans were engaged in world war 3 by an attacking Finn bringing in his finest knowledge on the world at large over the last century, for a while he had the Americans with a few good uppercuts but gradually they gained control in numbers and battered him into retreat but I don't think MikeyFin is done yet!!! all very amusing better than the telly

It starts to kick off later in the Thread

MikeyFin *was* a member here once.

The yanks are definitely a pack animal, very strong indeed, in large numbers.

It's not quite at full 'red-neck feaverpitch' yet, it's hasn't sunk to "the right to bear arms", or Religion, or my fave, the, "heaven forbid, if we were to wage war on your country, what could you do to stop us?" line, all of which, the fine folk of North Carolina fired at me during the 'Mid Week Meet' video scandal. that was fun.

Mikey's getting it easy right now. Once the pack realy forms (in a sheep following sheep kind'a way) it'll really kick off.
