Folkestone 2011
Please note the venue change for our National event in August. The dates remain the same as the RYA Calendar, but the venue has changed to Folkestone. Further details will be available shortly, but the attached notice gives initial information on entry fees and classes eligible, which should be self explanatory.
Along with the national events planned, we aim to run a two day Club event, for those boats that do not conform to national specifications, but which still wish to have a go and join in, so happy to discuss any clarifications required.

Folkestone 2011
We have been contacted by 2 or 3 people who require powerboat race training prior to the Folkestone race. Does anyone know of anybody else who would like to undertake race training? If so, we may consider holding a training day on Friday 12 August preceding the Folkestone National, if it is worthwhile.
Please contact me on sheena.williams3@btinternet.com if you would like any further information.

Folkestone 2011
I appreciate this Advance Programme is a little early, but the rates we have negotiated at the Hotel for freesell rooms will not be held indefinitely and will be released if demand becomes great. Normal price at The Grand Burstin is £85 per room so if you want to take advantage of the early booking rate, please see the attached and quote the special code to get your discount. There are only 20 rooms held at this special price.

Folkestone 2011
Please find attached draft Race Instructions for The 3B National Championship Finals on 13 & 14 August, which are subject to RYA Race Approval. This will run alongside national rounds for 3C, OCR & Thundercats and club class races. I will e-mail potential competitors directly nearer the time, after Race Approval has been granted, to eliminate any confusion with versions.
We have had four requests for training/re-training prior to Folkestone and the World 3B Championships in Torquay in September, so this is scheduled to take place on Friday 12 August.
Please note: Room Allocations at The Grand Burstin are filling fast, these will be held for a limited time only, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Perpetual Trophies and Friday night supper costs are work in progress and are subject to confirmation, but there will be two free BBQ Pit Party tickets for each competitor for the Saturday night included in your entry fee.
Reduced fee of £125 for national entries received by closing date (5.8.11), afterwhich a full fee of £150 will be charged. Club class entries will be £75.
Please contact me on sheena.williams3@btinternet.com if you require any further information.

Folkestone Grand Prix 2011
Just a gentle reminder that the closing date for 25% reduced entries for our national event on 13 & 14 August is 5th August, afterwhich date the full entry fee of £150 remains payable. Entry fee for any Club boats is £75.
I have four potential candidates for training on the 12th August, one new team and two new navigators. Please contact us if you would like to be included in this training sesssion, which will take place on Friday 12th August preceding the race.

Paul,
Race boats from all categories have always been and always will be welcomed.
Incidentally, for various reasons, we are particularly short of co-drivers for this event, so licensed competitors are very much sought after, although we can offer theory and practical training on Friday for newbies.
We have arranged a posh Friday night restaurant, a good Saturday evening BBQ and pit party and two days great racing. Weather looks mixed, but we'll overcome challenges safely.

Folkestone 3B British Championship Finals
Congratulations to Ashleigh Foulser B92 and Neal Ives B52 on jointly winning the 2011 3B British Championship - Well deserved
Well done to all those who took part in the event and to the officials who all worked so hard to make it happen. A great 'Pit Party / BBQ' on Saturday night with Thundercats, OCR & Offshore.
Nice to see a couple of people from Marathon downsizing and taking part in boats less than 1/2 the size they are used too!!! In the words of one, " ........ you have a desire to go out one weekend and deliberately feed your bodily organs into a 21 foot (or smaller) food blender"
We had a great weekend!
Thank you

It was a good weekend.
I'm sure Dan enjoyed himself. Well, he did turn up after the training day.
Thanks to barrie, Sheena, Sian, Ian, Sharon & Sammi for the loan of the boat.
Sorry I broke it.

Here are the results from the weekend. Thanks for the great turn out!
I agree with the comments above - nice to see OCR, Marathon, Offshore & Thundercats all competing and socialising together! I hope everyone had a good time!
