Lightbulb for 3C CREWS ONLY

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS?
I have acquired a bit of sponsorship that I am willing to share with Class 3. How about combining serious racing with a bit of fun.
My proposal is a combination of poker run fun with offshore racing.
Any class 3 boat that enters gets an envelope with a card
Sign on get an envelope with a card.
Launch get envelope with card
Sign off envelope with card
Podium, envelope with card
Open at prizegiving, highest hand gets prize ie:race entry cost, fuel for race etc . IT WOULD ALSO MAKE SURE EVERYONE TURNS UP FOR PRIZEGIVING
This would be of no cost to anyone, only my sponsor.
I would like your views , as I can arrange this now ready for 2005

Hope you don't mind me commenting as I don't race Class III 2 litre but it sounds like a very good idea.

Nice to see someone thinking outside of the box.

For 3c crews only

The reason behind this is ,first ,to encourage new crews, who might think they are not competetive enough.they would have chance of winning this prize whether they have the fastest boat or not. secondly it would encourage all crews to attend prizegiving whether they have done well in the race or not.

Hi Brian

Sounds really good to me - and would add to an event in a new way.
It would be great if we had events rather than just races. Of course the main part of a race meeting is going to be the race but there could be more! We do need more people racing and some new blood - so the more attractions to race in the class the better.

I remember one year, at Eastbourne, which I think must have been a UKOBA event, there was some extra stuff layed on, such as Clay Pigeon shooting, and I think Hellicopter rides, it certainly added to the event

Great idear Brian. Nice to see someone, other than the "organisers", trying to get our sport rolling again. The potential is there we just need to unlock it and prove to others that the racers want to give something back to the sport rather than just take.

It is very refreshing to see racers talking about improving the sport for next season at the end of October rather than just moan in April at the state of the sport. I dont know how many 2ltr drivers there are on this forum, or how many potential racers for that matter, but we are trying to arrange a meeting for all concerned early in November, probially in Portsmouth area, so we can discuss how WE want the racing to evolve. Watch this space!!

the sooner we have a meeting for competitors, and agree on any new ideas the better. we can then put our proposals to organisers.
