Geoff Tobert

I have just been informed by Ray Bulman, that Geoff Tobert, his friend of 61 years, & the final survivor of the £5 bet, to drive from Putney to Calais, which led to the race & the formation of UKOBA, passed away last night from leukemia.
Geoff was aged 83.
The funeral is to be at Chichester Crematorium, next Monday [17th Sept.] at 3.30pm (1530hrs).followed by a wake.
Geoff raced with the late Clive Curtis & was among those instrumental in the forming of offshore powerboat racing in this country in the early 1960's.
