under ther grand father rights ,how does it work.can a boat ahve new engines since rb08 and still be granted rights

I would say that as the GR rule is there to allow stuff to race that doesn't fit newer rules, so the engines could be replaced, but only with engines of the same type & spec as the originals, otherwise you could fit any old monster motors you liked, and the GR's are not there as a loophole for gaining an advantage, they're there to allow existing boats to continue racing.
