Ha Ha it was a great weekend I got the full eight laps in took it a little easy in the new boat and finished Third behind a whacking great Rib with two Varedos and some Mannerfelt with a XR2 on it that managed to win.
Jacques and I both had mechanical problems the week before so I got another powerhead for mine (Slipstream)off Pearney and Larby fitted it perfectly.
Jacques had to slip another piston in so did really well to get his new Race mechanic Kevin to do it all-it ran well even on double oil

Double oil actually makes it run weaker I have been told, so you should in theory fit larger jets!

Cookee did your rib have a tendancy to chine ?
If so how did you get over it was it a cleaver or long nose gearbox you used ?

Hats off to you and Jacq for getting the boats ready, that P20 with the H/O gave Jacq a good run untill everybody decided to follow the yacht club bouy instead of the GPA mark.
The P25 would not look out of place at a custom show, the detail in it is really good.
Hopfully there will be a few more out for the June race- me included, the more offshore legs out at one go the better I think someone should make it a ringtone

We ran a Tempest with a custom "Made by Kitten" gearbox - this and a lot of practice behind the wheel reduced any chinewalking to a minimum but it needed a lot of practice.
My ringtone is an XR2 revving up - it's a DIY one unsurprisingly!

I saw Frank yesterday and he told me about what happened to Hugh - what a nightmare!!
When did it go down? I came in the harbour around 6.30-7pm and it was tied up on the fuelling pontoon and looked OK.
John you were flying until you had to retire! Anyone know what happened to Skipper's P25?
It was a good day and definitely incentive to finish the Ring to join in!

Glad to be of assistance
I believe the chine walking with the patternforme is more to do with the design of the boat, specifically the wings, and the weight added over the years rather than anything else. Due to the wings being so low at the back, from where I was sat it looked like the water or air pocket under each side was buffeting the boat from side to side.
Imagine a toy plane pulled along by a piece of string to make it fly, it buffets from side to side as it's not aerodynamically stable, that's what it looked like to me, hard to describe though when I know next to nothing about aerodynamics!
Glad to hear Jacques got a new mechanic, is 'kevin' who I think he is?
James
