I'm sure kev won't mind too much if i reply on this one...
Meeting seemed to go very well. We had a good turn out with many people (around 16) signing up for racing, several other people joining as social members.
Plenty of people were keen on forming the new GPA comittee, and there were no objections i was aware of to the racing. The local model powerboating club showed an interest in becoming a part of the event.
There was some potential interest in sponsorship for the event, which is great news.
All in all i would have said it was a very positive meeting which i for one found very helpful. It would seem to all be coming along very nicely.
Many thanks to Kev for making all of this possible again, i know it's taken a huge amount of time and effort so far, with much more yet to come!
Thanks, James

Just so everyone over here is aware, someone i know had a 2.4 bridgeport powerhead and mid stolen the night after the race meeting.
Could be a complete coincidence, but it could also be linked. If anyone hears of someone looking for a cheap gearbox, or of anything else which may suggest involvement, please give me a PM.
Unfortunately some people don't believe in actually working to earn what they want!
Cheers, James

Shouldn't be too hard to spot a stolen engine, can't be that many bridgeports around, let alone in Guernsey!
On a seperate (coincidental) note, I've decided to sell my bridgeport engine
(joke)
Boat should be in the water by the end of the week so getting really excited now! I await more details of the next meeting...

I must say the Herm race seems especially interesting, but I really don't like the idea of going near any rocks. Am really interested to know the course.
Haven't even driven my new boat yet or put my ring21 up for sale. Will be a couple of weeks before I do either.
Larby are you going to race your cat, has the peer pressure got to you, owning an old race boat?
Would be good to see it racing.

Yeah i have every intention of racing the cat! I have done from the start to be honest but didn't want to commit too early! It's gonne be a struggle to do it though with a new business, a house to rennovate anda baby due in 2 weeks!
The herm course gets very close to a lot of rocks IIRC, so does the north beach course though if it still goes between the harbour wall and the rocks, all adds to the fun!!
Spare a thought for me having to navigate the cat around a tight course!
Will be great to see the extreme out!

Welcome
Welcome to the forum Tony,
That looks like an impressive RIB you've got there! Have you had it long?

Hi Andy,
I bought the boat in September 2008. It went back in November for the Boat show and a few alterations. I absolutely love it. I don't think its quick enough to keep up with you boys though. I have had no racing experience, but would quite like a go at the Poker run.
What sort of boats do you guys have, and what speed are you averaging?
I don't want to be last...
Tony

Don't worry about no experience Tony... we are in the same boat! (metaphorically speaking)
My boat is a Ring 21 with a 200hp Optimax, have only had it in the water for 2 weeks and its still being run in... alot of fun!! Rather nervous about racing it!
So far I have had 60mph on the way back from Herm, hoping for 65-70mph flat out, might be a bit optimistic though... What sort of speeds can your RIB do? Very big engine!
Have you been out at all this week? Weather has been perfect!
Are you interested in racing at all then? I think there are a couple of RIBs interested...
Andy

Hi Jacques, I was quite happily daydreaming, when my daughter starting screaming""he's going to overtake you"" I was miles away then heard you go roaring past me!! I tried to catch you but with my wife onboard, it wasn't to be.
You boat looked fantstic, a proper racing boat..
We are out most niceish days, so hopefully see you out there..
