We nearly ran the Slipstream over in Gibralter - we were chasing the Rendles very hard and they took a corner a little fast when they spun out and hooked a little, luckily I was just far enough behind to take avoiding action and missed them by not very much at all! it would have probably written the boat off as we would have hit them right in the centre of the foredeck and reduced it to matchwood.

360 degree spin out and a one minute penalty
Oh what could have been-I needed ten laps though .
Looking forward to the next race. The Boat is going like a train with a little help from my on board tactician Jack Gervaise Brazier
Nothing sloppy about that little performance !

Yeah what happened Simon - where'd all this speed come from??!

I think I actually had a bit of a lucky escape - you and Frank were both catching me up at the end there.

Next race is going to be pretty damn close by the looks of things - haven't seen the lap times but we were way closer together on the finish times than last time.

Engine problems/ DQ's aside and the standings could have been very very different too!!!

Hi Simon,
What a difference in the way your boat was riding, looked really good.
With all the other boats it was a good race to watch, I hope further setting up will get you even more speed.

All the best

Steve

Photos look good Sean - gotta love the Phantom!!! what happened to "taking it easy!!!

Haven't seen any video yet but from the photos "Fast and Furious" looks to be running really well trimmed too- I know from the start Dan was definitely fooking quick!

I only really saw Jacques from behind but he was flying!!! Shame about the DQ - had all the makings of a cracking battle - I don't think i could have kept that pace up for the whole race though - would have ended up losing the whole engine and not just a cover!

I think our class is going to be very very exciting at the next one - can't wait!

cheers, dans boat seems to be very quick! i just need to get the starts sorted as i hung back cos i was bein rolled round in everyone elses wake! i stayed trimmed in for much of the race. but its a big learning curve, that boat has a lot more to come yet! just need to get comfordable driving it hard.
yours will be a very hard boat to beat, it flys with that motor on.

There were certainly some spectacular moments where we were guardboating just off Soldiers Bay! It was so messy out there we had to move from the inside of the course to the outside closer to the land because the poor little 'Whaler was getting swamped in the slop. It scared the hell of my girlfriend on the way there and back, she kept asking why on earth I want to put myself through that in a race boat

John you're quite clearly mental, and your co-driver is probably more mental

Sean and Dan were running very very well, great driving for first times out, if I can match their speed in my first race I'll be well happy. Shame we didn't see more of Dave's Phantom, we had a great view of his gearbox more than anything when he went past us on the 1st lap!

Simon's Slipstream was running like a completely different boat, and a properly impressive rooster tail! Jacques batboat came into it's own in those conditions, shame the cowl couldn't hack it

Well done to all the racers and the organisers, can't wait to get out there!

Paul - do you think you'll be ready for the next one? We could have ten boats in our class at this rate!
