With the greatest respect, I think a little more homework needs to be done re: comparisons for forced induction Diesel & Gasoline engines.

Normally aspirated Diesels don't really exist in any form for fast boating (loads of weight, no power), and forced induction Gasoline engines leave the sky as the limit on power.

As a general rule, a turbo diesel is comparable with a N-A Gasoline (roughly speaking).

OK so

Simply we have 1,2 & 3 litre, or multiples of !! inboard or outboard where inboard can be twice the capacity of outboard. Non epa race and forced induction
petrol motors move up to next class.
