Don't be silly, looks like hotboats is finished before it started.
I believe the basic at pwllheli on 21/22 july is still running but only because someone else is organising it.
PS, anybody wanna buy an hotboat ?

Hi guys
The rumour mill is going again.
Firstly Blackpool was cancelled. The reason it was cancelled was twofold.
Marchwood Marina informed us that they could not accommodate us. Therefore we had nowhere to launch the boats from. Therefore we did not have an event. Secondly, all the people who said they were going to come out racing with Hotboats, didn't. Like so many things, they were all full of fresh air. All mouth, no action.
Pwllheli - the Hotboats Racing Association is staging this event. There will be two rounds of the National Class 3C Championships and an All Classes Basic Race. This event is organised.
As I've said before, stop listening to rumours. If you want the facts, ASK.
You can either email, PM or telephone me.
Gary

Roofer, is it me or are you just plain stupid.
The Hotboats Series did not happen because people like you who said they were going to race and we made the rules to accommodate them. You were all full of S**T. To be quite frank I really can't be faffed to have a conversation with a guy who has never raced, never held a licence and in fact has never contributed to powerboat racing one bit, apart from constant criticism and nastiness. Just remember the famous words from Bambi "if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all".
As for Ramsgate - Ramsgate is going ahead, run by the Allhallows Yacht Club. Due to the fact that we only have one Hotboat (that's mine - I did put my money where my mouth is) it was decided to turn the Hotboats race into an All Classes Basic.
Just for the record, the Hotboats Racing Association will continue to operate and organise events, not just Hotboats events but other classes too.
Gary.

These two statements in one post are a wee bit confusing.
To clarify, is there a hotboat series, or not?

Jon,
Sorry to confuse.
No there is not a Hotboats Race Series this year. Nobody wanted to play.
The Hotboats Racing Association is a Club with members and will continue to be so.
Gary.

My word! Fine language from the ORC Chairman, "You are full of shit"! I have held off commenting on the new ORC until now. But a reaction like that it unacceptable.
I am gald to be out of it, Puddifoot got just the YES man he wanted for the top job, canvassing voting clubs to support GM. There is such a breadth of experience in the ORC that JP has taken to phoning former members to ask their advice!
It is highly likely that the RMYC event next weekend will be my last, with the current RYA set-up; both paid and volunteer.
As CB1 said before - Roll on WPPA!

James,
My reaction to this thread was as the Chairman of the Hotboats Racing Association - not as the Chairman of the Offshore Racing Committee. They are two very different hats and I am professional enough to know the difference.
As for the make up of the new ORC - I would like to point out a few facts.
Firstly, yes I am the Chairman, duly elected and I got twice the votes the opposition got.
Secondly, the make up of the new ORC is very experienced and more than capable of doing the job. As you know, the Committee consists of :
The Chairman of Safety & Technical - Mike King. Mike has a PhD in Engineering and served his apprenticeship with the Bluebird Project (Donald Campbell) and professionally manages a huge engineering plant.
Brian Peedell - is the Chairman of ORDA and has been racing for years.
Jan Falkowski - currently races P1 and has been involved with ProVee, Rib Racing, Circuit Racing and holds many records.
Ann Robinson - has been involved with powerboat racing for as long as I can remember and got an RYA award for long service to the Sport at the RYA Awards Ceremony 2007.
Chris Strickland - has been racing for years, has broken loads of records - was the Chairman of BIBOA.
So to insult these people and say they lack experience in Powerboat Racing is to say the least, insulting and rude.
As I have said before on Boatmad, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and this Committee has only been in place for less than a month. Sarcastic comments from somebody who should know better are uncalled for and unjust and goes to show your bitter resentment.
Gary.

Gary just a couple of questions.
1/ How many paid up members are there in the ''Hotboat association''?
2/ How many, paid up members, currently race in a National series?
3/ When was the last time Mr King worked with current race
engines,excluding yours?
4/ Are all the male members of the ORC, apart from Rhino, members
of a MASONIC LODGE?

[QUOTE=flightracingteam;111266] You were all full of S**T.
I'm with Safety on this one. I think you are incredibly rude. Should I go as far as to say pompous?
And as for your next opinion:-
"My reaction to this thread was as the Chairman of the Hotboats Racing Association - not as the Chairman of the Offshore Racing Committee. They are two very different hats and I am professional enough to know the difference."
I don't believe that you can wear two hats. A true "professional" will know that there is no difference between the persona of the Chairman of the Hotboats Racing Association and the Chairman of the ORC. The perception of you is the same I'm afraid.
By the way, you misspelled Managing Director in your profile.

Anyway back on track, I wonder how ORDA are going to fare at their Littlehampton event, without the promised, fully signed up, 15 HotBoats?

At present Littlehampton is very much on for us James.
As the treasurer of ORDA I have to make sure the event is viable from a financial point of view especially after losing so much at the event last year, I know Pat Peedell is trying to find out if anyone (3C ) is away on overseas duty representing queen and country and we have an idea that it is now fairly well supported locally (with some money too) but I am not prepared to be in the same position as last year and lose club members money again.
We are having ski racers at this years event which helps greatly both for coffers but more importantly for the event to be a great spectacle and hope to have a basic race for all to enter but we will need to know expected numbers with some sort of deposit or we will be paying out for unecessary RYA Calender fees if people are not going to turn up.
I really hope this event is run and all things point to it being a great racing weekend,we do so many times rely on those who help for little or often no monetary reimbursement, which we really do appreciate.
ORDA will not be drawn into publically arguing on any forum even tho I too have two caps (neither fitting very well) and I could say lots but wont and I know people will make of that what they will:- all any of us want is to see racing get bigger but at present it just needs to survive.
In answer to your question James I personally NEVER count on any money until it is cashed, cleared and sitting in the bank or maybe I would have believed the man who came to a committee meeting and promised loads.........
Charlie
