I am amazed at all this wrangling within the sport.
I have been watching powerboat racing for many years in all forms and have wonderfull memories from seeing the Late great and unsponsored Peter Inwood battling with the wildly rich Budweiser Seebold team in the ON cats and the Bill Bonner Jaguar powered offshore beast racing with several class of boats together .
While I can see the overall point of the Honda racing I am noticing a noticable amount of New designers producing some fabulous and Innovative boats and I would love to see the day when all of them can race together in a Powerboat regatta unrestricted by the engine manufacturer and the tape measure altogether.
As long as ,possibly ,several hundred boats can come together and have a good race or series of races and lots of fun , whether you have millions or a few thousand to spend. Would'nt it make for a truly great specticle ???

Are the 225s still braking the saddles often, seemed to be an achilles heel of 225s?

If it was nt for the Honda Series then which other Series would there be to fault find and to slag off?
If Honda decide to step down as sponsor there's a ready made series for the next manufacturer to promote his goods.
It might not be everybody's favorite Series but give it a rest....... its all been said before

well havent been on here for a while and oh its good to see we are still getting a good kicking.........the 225..what a great looking boat..yes it has its flaws but when you get it right there is nothing more rewarding....all you lot seem to go on about is speed speed speed as seem to remember a local race not so long ago where there were ocr, ribs and oh a p1 and the good old 225 held its own.....as to breaking saddles i dont think one has gone this year and there have been some pretty bad conditions..as for people stopping well as for being onre of the unfortunate ones to be spat out of a 225 i can give thanks to the fellow competitor for stopping(top man scott)......please give it a rest as yes all this has been said before....oh also its not the top runners always starting from the back the fleet is reversed..also this new start was to reduce number of boats into first turn..isnt that something else you lot complained about

Going back to your question
Oversensitive & very defensive of criticism or comment
If you not worked it out yet boys & girls , Secret to fishing is to use the right bait........... you bite every time (bait, hook, line & sinker)

As you know we have a Honda series in NZ as well.
The purists of offshore are probably not great fans of it but it is a good class and all the boats are equal.
However if Honda pull the sponsorship I wouldn't see it surviving, and wasn't that the original question?

For the time being we have pulled out of Honda. Hopefully will be able to race the Basic in Salcombe this coming month. The Isle of Mann is not looking very inviting from where we sit.

John as much as I would love to answer this at length, clearly an honestly all I am prepared to say is that we have withdrawn and that we and one other leading team have officially requested an RYA Inquiry and I guess the RYA will advise through official channels after it has investigated matters.
For the meantime we are not prepared to race Honda or comment further
Though I have to say I will be entering the Basic race in Salcombe and any others outside of Honda that may be happening (or allow us) but I don't have the info on races (apart from Salcombe) as yet.
Best wishes
Rich

Maybe you're 'ripe' for moving on to Endurance.

Anything will be a plus from where we have just been! Soooooo looking forward to the Salcombe basic instead of the Isle of Mann and Honda. It'll be fun. I drove Jeremy's OCR boat last weekend and it was great to be away from the norm! Now you may be thinking that's a change from recent postings by me, but then things have changed at Honda haven't they?
If things change back at Honda then we'll be back to the job. In the meantime they have a few issues to resolve there before we would consider it!

WELL, That’s a shame rich .To me from and out sider point of view i think the only people who are wining at Honda are the people at the top and not the racers i think they forget how much money and time you boys put in to the sport so come and join OCR where it is not so political and we are not trying to live a millionare lifestyle on dhss money so come and have some fun in and out of the water all the best john

I have to say I'm not exactly shocked at the news, and I hope things are sorted out before the race - having said that you will be very welcome in Salcombe!

I think old bean I shall be racing in the good old Westcountry. Good luck to all the Honda guys though as it is the final event of the season and I shall miss the teams! See it on TV though as the series starts next Saturday at 5pm on ITV4 - Torquay.
Are Rhys and Hadyn coming out to play?
