There has to be an element of security when there are a bunch of fairly expensive raceboats and equipment parked in the same place, and it's Arun District Council who insist on some form of pit pass and an element of control over access for health and safety reasons among others. So I don't really think that's a very responsible reaction.

If those people who have powerboats and don't want to race them but would like to be involved with an event and support the sport, why not come down and see us or get in touch. Safety and patrol boats are always welcome, and you would get a pass anyway.

That's up to you to think what you like, but both Jon and I, together with countless others have supported this venue and and have got to the stage where we can't be arsed to go cap in hand to the organisers at this event, or any others (cowes especially) in the hope that we may be worthy of a pit pass.

All IMHO of course!

Fair point Tony, and I'm well aware of yours and Jon's long history with the sport which sadly isnt like it used to be, but we are all on the same side here, just trying to keep it all going as best we can.
There's a lot of effort being put in to put these events on, and not a small amount of dosh with rising costs everywhere. (Largely thanks to the famous one way valve).

And like you said, everyone has their opinion..
