meeting the r.y.a

Well lads, next Friday the 14th, we, the competitors, have got a meeting with the R.Y.A. If everyone invited turns up, we will have a spokesman from r.i.b.s, Class3. o.r.d.a.. u.k.o.b.a. .o.c.r. safety crews. Peter Butler from Sky tv, plus a potential series sponsor. What's going to be asked for is- smaller courses, so the public can see what is going on. Also can we have production class boats with us on the same start line making it a type of national /basic race . Maybe make it 200hp, not 2litre allowing other engine manufactures to get involved. If this is allowed it would boost our numbers, making it a truly spectacular start which we could sell to a sponsor. It has been suggested we drop the name Class3 and call it FORMULA 200 - THAT SOUNDS GOOD DON'T YOU THINK? Any more ideas? We have only got until Friday. It's our sport so don't expect someone else to organise it, then spend the next season moaning about it. Get your thinking hats on and propose any suggestions that could improve our sport.

for what it is worth, here in new zealand for our smaller classes we run them as follows
Sports D up tp 140hp
Sports C 141 to 200hp
Sports B 201 to 225hp
Sports A Unrestricted

The hulls are to be a normal production hull.
This allows any type of engine regardless of cc's.

Thses formulas seem to work here

the boats are basically all production ski boats and that is how they are manufactured, most of them are also used as recreational ski boats
my wife races one as well and we use it in the summer for skiing
it is a 19ft cyclone with a 200xs opti and we are getting 82mph out of it

kiwi.is there any rules as to what you can do to your 200xs opti,as we run the same engine on our b23, the rev limiter is stopping us getting over 80mph,where the same setup with a 2litre xr2 reving at 7100 gives us 81.

can you tell me why its limited to 2 litre ? most of the guys up north run 2.5 engines so arent elligable. i believe theres over 30 boats entered for racing at barrow this year, do you get 30 boats in 2 litre ?

roofer, first ,no we dont get 30 boats in2litre,but we would like to,this is the reason for this meeting.2litre is the uim rule or up to 3000cc if it is an epa engine, green.i personally would like it opened up,but i think 280 on an 18 would make the race insurers a bit nervous.so i think 200hp green or not is all we could hope for

FYI we've got 22 boats in the 2005 KCLASS series already and upto 25 crews (yes boat share) and all without any outside sposors yet!!!But we've already started to introduce some into OCR/Class 3 etc.

This means we have about 40 competitors plus all their families and friends at each event, talk about crowd control and all this at junior level.

meeting

the idea of this meeting is to put forward the ideas from the previous meeting of which you were present!. we have got a rep from all the relevent parties. we do not need another discussion, we just need to know if our ideas are at all possible.

i was involved in a meeting back in november with the RYA about opening up offshore circuit with ribs , production and bat's all racing together and bringing in hare and hounds, top guns, le mans starts etc and the idea was liked. especially opening it up in a more basic series. i will be at this meeting and hopefully with all the right ingredients thrown in the cake will taste just right.
If ou can't make it pass on your thoughts and questions to those who are going.
