Monte Carlo - Malta
Well we made it, four Cowes-Torquay-Cowes races in two days, delivering a 2million dollar powerboat from the Monaco Yacht Show to Malta. Bumped into Dredgy on Saturday lunchtime, who was waiting for the green light on the MC -Venice record attempt and agreed on the forecast, which was so good that we decided to cancel the hotel and go. Left MC at 18.30 cruised at high speed, using night vision camera, radar and eyesight and 184 miles later arrived in Solenzara, Corsica at 02.30. Departed this, well remembered, little marina at 07.30 for a 2000 litre refuel at Abratax in Sardinia. The elderly fuel attendant couldn't believe his luck. Cut east just about above Cap Ferrato for the 170 mile easterly crossing, in increasing seas, to arrive, knackered, in Trapani, Sicily. Forecast was deteriorating, so decided to miss out the leisurely 110 mile Sicilian coast beat and instead go open sea to Gozo to race the weather system. The final section was 4 metre waves and the three props on this 12 ton boat were leaving the water. 750 miles in two days.
Last night's curry in Sleima was wolfed down. When I win the lottery I want a Windy 52 Blackbird - take a look on YouTube.
