Needles/Camden & Invitation Basic

R.M.Y.C. have reduced the Entry Fee to the Invitation race for sportsboats, RIBs, Honda etc boats up to 250HP - now £125 - that's £2 per mile for this 64 mile basic race in Poole.
Marathon, Class III and V-24 championships - last date for entry is 7th August.
The Event Licence issue is getting easier and they can be issued at the event race control for this one.
Go on......have a go! You know you want to!

We will let you know after this weekend......

Event Licence news from the RYA:

Following the ORC meeting of Wednesday 29 July the following decisions have been taken:

1. With immediate effect unlimited event licences will be available to all competitors

2. Competitors who have already taken two Event Licences in 2009 will have to obtain a full medical examination as per current RYA requirements for full licence applications before a further Event Licence can be issued.

3. Additional Event licences will be available from Race Secretaries at all events providing the new RYA Event Licence certificate is produced.

4. In order to obtain this RYA Event Licence certificate all competitors must return a fully completed RYA Licence application form which must also include the medical certificate duly signed and stamped by the applicants doctor. This Licence application must be returned to the RYA office with two passport size photographs.

5. On receipt of this information the RYA will then send an Event Licence certificate to the person named therein which will confirm that they are eligible to apply for unlimited Event Licences

6. The cost of Event Licences can be set against the cost of a full national licence providing a copy of the Event Licences are returned with the full licence application.

7. Competitors are reminded that in certain classes national points cannot be gained when Event Licences are used. Marathon classes WILL be awarded Marathon Series national points when using Event Licences in 2009.

I understand that the "Speed Limit" on Historic boats in the Marathon Series has been knocked on the head .......

Any confirmation of this change??

To date, we have 7 Needles/Marathon entries.
Basic Unlimited 2 entries + National Class III & V-24s.

Remember, the Needles is the first heat in the Marathon Series - to have a chance of winning the National series, you have to enter the races!!!!

Everyone calls out for more basic races; where are the basic boats -particularly the 90 - 250HP racers????

Come on - join in!

Hi Annie,
I've spoken to John Lidden and Sheila and should be able to get my boat measured OK. The issue however is the dunk test. I've done a dunk test before, but is out of date now although I did do a scuba lesson in september last year - but doubt that helps particularly. Have spoken to Bob and it's just not practical to get a test arranged with him, although he was very helpful. Andark can do me a dunk test on 14th August - but I need to book for 6 people, which for just 1 or 2 of us to do will cost over 500 quid which just isn't economic. So unless you can suggest an alternative I'm afraid I'll be a spectator only.
Cheers
Matt

If anyone has a place available, would love to run in either the CPC or CTC.
Am good with spanners, and can both throttle & navigate and I know the solent waters well. More than happy to also pay my share of the costs.
Cheers
M

No.

We'll be at Cowes.

And maybe the UKOBA South Coast Marathon if it happens.

Needles - class entries - looking good!

The RYA have just agreed that a minimum of 2 boats in each Marathon class will qualify for National points in this series. We now have at least 2 entries in each of classes B, C, D and E, so points all round for finishers!!! This will give the Needles race entrants a great advantage for the series.

And the weather looks set fair for the weekend too!
