Please don't ask Mike Lloyd as he is not a member of RMYC, the club which is still debating whether we can logistically put this race on properly.
As soon as the RM make their decision, we will let you all know the state of play.

Was only trying to answer the question to the best of my ability, I dont know if Mike is a Member of the RMYC or NASA for that point, perhaps some clear direction from the RMYC would'nt go a miss to avoid such questions being asked by those (me inc.) who are spending tens of thousands of pounds preparing boats for the Marathon Series which may or may not be only two races.... just a thought, no politics but why would someone spend a small fortune in this climate of economic Ebb tide to only do two races?? And its on the RYA Calender, then folk wonder why Members post that they have cancelled an event due to lack of interest??

As I say just my opinion but its April, we are a third of the way through the year and still No Firm events apart from the CTC and south coast marathon and the Needles Trophy (according to the RYA) but obviously not yourselves ........ Ask this how many boats are in the fleet from the UK in the Marathon Series this year 3,4,5,6 7 not many more.. Why?

We need folk like yourself to organise these events for us to take part in, and the work you guys do is fantastic otherwise "we" wouldn't be racing but for the love of god give us something to waste our cash on....

The reason I told Martin that as far as I was concerened the Needles race was on (and we were planning to enter) is that firstly, in the latest calender received from the RYA last week it says so, in yellow, and also at the last ORC meeting I specifically asked your representative James Cox if it was on and he said YES. I do remember John Puddifoot checking that answer with James and his reply was that it would be a long distance race, whether or not it was going to be of a Marathon race length wasn't made clear however, we all commented that we were very pleased to hear that at least it was on. No doubt it will be in the minutes and hopefully, so that everyone can put it in their diaries, the RMYC can let everyone know as soon as possible.

Well, you have two entries so far, Martin and us
ML.

And I did not say it was OFF! I can assure you all that we are working hard on putting an event on - hopefully for both the Needles Trophy and the Class 3 Camden Trophy. Watch this space....

This RMYC event is definitely ON! Thanks to great negotiations by S1DEY.

I have already emailed most of the known Marathon teams - our plan for the Needles race is about 100 miles, using 28-mile laps.
Cooke - are you coming to defend your title as the last winner?

For the Camden race, we plan just over 60 miles with inshore laps of 8 - 11 miles. In addition to Class 3 & V-24, we hope to add sportsboats if we get the OK from the RYA.

More details will follow soon.

If you are interested in entering, please PM me with:
Your real name
Your boat name
Whether arriving by road or by sea

This will assist us in arranging for pontoon space & ground space. Many thanks.

That's great news, and means that we have a three race series for Marathon Boats.

Hi Annie,

I'm sorry to say that my last race boat is in Greece now, but we have another at the planning stages for the Marathon class, not a Rib though!
