How about you - will you be entering Swipes as in 08 or are you doing any changes?

Pretty much exactly as it was, with hopefully a little more prep (time) and possibly the latest version of Steyr's 256 with the fluid harmonic balancer.

If he's in C, it'll be a different (twin engine) boat. (Unless it's C-Sport! ) Maybe a Seatek in the G29! Now that would be spectacular.

I've driven the 29 with both an Ilmor and a 700 hp tuned merc, and both were absolutely ridiculous - 80 knots But for RB12 we are thinking about something bigger with twin installations, although nothing is decided yet. Would be fun to poke a stick at the big guys, though...

That's a funny setup! was it not imbalanced? We usually fit matching pairs over here. Must have been a cramped engine bay too.

Funny lot those norwegians.

Look forward to meeting you again.

Are you not going to do RB11? We're not doing RB12.

We will have to see how things progress. Would loooove to do both, but the timing is a bit troublesome for us. And getting a boat ready and tested in time will be a tight fit, but haven't dismissed anything yet. Have to admit that the current line-up for RB11 looks very good, and it will be hard to let this event pass by. Do you by any chance know if the grandfather clause will allow any GF 36 to enter in 2011, or is it just the two boats from 2008?

I'm guessing that the grandfather clause would allow the 36's to run in 2011, but only as they were, ie, if it now has the Ace drives (NXT) it's a different spec and the grandfather clause is not there as a loophole to turn up with a new setup, it's there to allow the boats 'as were'. It would mean entering C, instead of D.

Why don't you do RB11 in the 29 (and bring the trophy with you!) and get your 'bigger' entry ready and tested for RB12. sadly, as I say, we won't be doing 2012.

Your D-Max is in theory no longer allowed in E class, as they're quite heavily modified, but in your case, the Grandfather clause would work for you.

This is something we are discussing. However, bringing the trophy to anywhere within 100 miles of you is not an option - it will surely "vanish"

We will make big efforts to do both, I can assure you. Any particular reason for not joining 2012?

That's slanderous! I can assure you, I wouldn't even nearly want it by any means other than winning it, fair & square.

Cost, and attitude of the organisers.

I get the impression they think we need them, a lot more than they need us. They're wrong in our case. 2011 is going to be awesome, a real battle.

I think we'll see an entry list that you won't be able to resist!

Had a peek at the new R34 yesterday. Deck plug coming along nicely. I have to say, in the flesh, this boat looks way sleeker and more elegant than I imagined it would. Some of the sketches that have been posted gave the impression it might look a bit dumpy, but it's not like that at all. foredeck has a very nice camber and proportionally, it all looks very cool indeed.
I took some pictures, but they don't do it justice, so I'll leave the newsflashes to Pops Ring.

This is JUST a flash,

In the best possible taste , of course !

Dont ask for more pics yet as I am waiting for more glass plates to be delivered by that nice Mr Friese-Green chappie. None of that Modern Stuff here , strictly Old School.
