Whilst the above reasons are all likely, I suspect that as the hull mould has already been made and removed, making holes in the side of the hull to facilitate constructing the deck mould aren't a problem.

These are the latest pics of the Ring 34 deck plug. Still a lot of work to be done by Mike and his team but the shape is now there and looking great.

Screensaver?
You know when youv`e made it,when youv`e been done in oils.
Unless my eyes deceive me,that looks suspiciously like M.Ring esq in the little red `Crusader` (just above `51`),doing his 2nd race?
OK it`s artists licence with the crew layout and the bridge up,unless they did it for that year only, and over on the left of picture is that damn hi tech carbon boat. How did he past the rules!!!
Still covered in GRP nearly 40yrs on,must like the stuff.

Yes it may be the Crusader 16 my navigator was Mike Dorey from Yarmouth.
There was a nice oil of the front runners in the first Worlds ski race at Whitstable and of the Ring 21 series A, 'London Bitter' when I towed the Australian Ray Wheeler, this painting hung in the Whit. ski club over the stairs if I remember right.
Where is the painting of the start of the London calais london hanging now ?.
Is that a reference to me still being plastered in GRP or you ?
Mike

Who`s covered in GRP ?
Nah,not me,I`m a tin man with an occasional foray into wood and plastic,a real dinosaur.
For some reason ,I have feeling that Michael Turner painting is with Keith Dallas.

Ring Powercraft Race Team go training
The Ring Powercraft Race Team go training!
With a day out on the sea at Chichester, the Ring Powercraft Race Team got down to a serious testing and bonding session in the very fast Ring Ranger 16 powered by a Suzuki 140.
The Ring Ranger 16 – a temporary stand in for the Ring 34 presently under construction – is a comfortable, fast, seaworthy craft designed and built by the legendary Mike Ring for both the family and serious racers - proved to be sufficiently challenging for the first day of training for two gentlemen of a certain age!
Many thanks to the third member of the team Andy Crabb for his help when assisting both of his “older” team mates to the bar and back during the necessary “break” from the testing session, not that we drank much I hasten to add.
ML.

Our ability to do what may I ask? Be careful with your answer because us "Old en's" can get a bit grumpy.

I was of course referring to the tender caress of the throttle that only an old master of the sea's acquires
Phew think I scraped by on that one
