I think there could be something in the pipeline on the e-tec as there are the other classes which could be due for an influx of these new breed of clean 2 strokes.......

Clive Jones builds a 16 Rib based on the Phantom hull. Handles really well, I drove it down at Greenwich, very impressed.

i agree clives rib uis lovely to drive, but isnt that to long taking into account the tubes?

Any make is acceptable as long as min length is 16' and max is 16'10" measured in accordance with D2 (appendix 4) of PB1, must be loads that meet that mark, oh 2 other things it must be side by side seating so I suppose the Frode in the other thread may be out and obviously the e-tec 90 by Evinrude. PM for more details.

is there anything to stop you entering in either ocr, or e9000 in a 16ft sale boat, race spec side by side seating etc etc?
just toying with ideas

Depends on weather it's been in a sale or it's got a sail I suppose........ but definately nothing with a trapeaze or dagger boards!!!

well I did think that most powerboats did have a keel, of some sort, but spinnaker well that could speed things up on certain legs of the course.....

You only take into account the length from the bow (tube) to the transom!
So his rib will fit.

My motor is 2 stroke and so is the merc optimax so still would not qualify.

Yeh, the Yam 90 comes in at approx.1.5L.
The idea of the new class is to comply with the 1.3 remit and introduce the clean burn EPA/CARRB compliant engines at the same time. changing existing classes is too hard to achieve an equal(ish) playing field so to say

Well the 90 2stroke is 1140 and the 90 4stroke is 1596 so is that a 1.1 and1.5/1.6 respectfuly
The 90 2stroke was offered originally I think, but fell short of 1.3 then the 4 stroke exceeded it a bit they did offer an 80 but that was either side too
The e-tec is homologated which save a bit of work especially if an international round was held.......
Of course the 90 Optimax comes in at a stagering 1.7l and the 80 merc 4stroke is a mean 1.5l it's amazing the differnce in the 90hp range....
