I think it's a little early in the game to be comparing yourselves to Honda.

With the huge fleet of boats, a series run professionally and with the backing of a major player in the Marine trade, together with tv coverage etc, it's easy to see what your getting for your money from Honda.

Unsportsman like behaviour

Unfortunately as within any sports sometimes individuals are found to have attempted to prevent another crew from racing by tampering with boats or equipment. In the unlikely event of this happening the Hotboat Racing Association has a zero tolerance policy, and any crew or supporters proved to have tampered in anyway will be immediately disqualified from the event and from the rest of the series under these circumstances there will be no appeal and all registration fee will be forfeit.
Why dont ORDA or the RYA have this policy?

Tony i was not comparing Hotboats to honda just saying that we are £300.00 more then honda if you wish to race in OCR it will cost you £1500.00 to enter for the year and that is good value it takes a lot of money to put on a safe race and if the crews want to have good events then this is good value by the time you pay for the safety boats the OOD the safety officer race sec scrutineer paramedics marshalls crane hire insurance to name but a few. So if you want to go racing it will cost you money that is just a fact of life and if you do not have the money to race then dont do it this is not a cheep sport never was and never will be.

A lot of time and effort went into the working out of the rules. We have been the victim of tampering in the past and it is not only unsportman like it can be darn right dangerous.

If we make our position clear from the begining there can be no misunderstanding, the Zero tolerence policy says it all

I can not spreak for ORDA or the RYA i can just let everybody know who wishes to be involved in racing Hotboats that this is the way it is, don't tamper it won't work you will be found out.

We have tried very hard to make the rules for Hotboats fair, easily understood and with no Grey areas this way everyone knows where they stand from day 1

Safety boats should get paid they work very very hard and we need them

We will pay all safety boats their travel, accomadation food while on water and on water fuel and then of course something for doing it.

They will also have their race wear (Hotboats safety shirts)

Plus of course their invitation to race parties etc,

We need safety boats to look after our fleet so we in turn must look after them!

There are ways to deal with things like that and it will all be in place.

Hope that answers your question

Very good.

Personally, I reckon a Singapore cane would do the job.

I don't actually think that £2 or £2.5k is expensive for a seasons entry fees, and I have certainly never made the mistake of thinking that powerboat racing is a cheap sport. But then you haven't got to convince me, coz it's very unlikely that i will be competing!

I assume your expecting to have a series sponsor in place, as I can't imagine that you'd have enough funds to provide all the things that your saying, such as clothing, parties and especially paying for safety boats and it's associated costs.

So far it's all looking very positive, we are working on the theory of build it and they will come.

Having said that to date we have 10 boats that we know are 100% serious and several others who are thinking about dipping their toes in the water.

This series has only been publicised on Boatmad and the RYA newsletter and the response has been outstanding, but we still have a lot of publicity to go yet with press info to all the boating mags, the new web-site etc

As you can see a lot of work has gone into this and we will continue to work on it to make sure everyone enjoys the season.

Your website shows a picture of M-71 ( a boat I am interested in ) it has three 2.5 efi's on the back. The boat weighs 2200kg and does 110mph. To qualify on weight I would need to add 1850kg to the boat. This is almost double! Apart from finding space to fit 2 tones of weight, if I did add the weight, the speed of the boat would just die. It would fall from an old Class 2 boat to something that could not even compete in Class 3.

I am sure there are other boats with the same issue.

What can be done to sort out this number before the season starts, and the rules are cast in stone?

The pictures on the website were taken by Dave Ormiston who allowed us to use them to give people an idea of the type of boats.

You can not run 3 engines in Hotboats it is a max of 2 and with twin engines this boat would fit into the 600 class which has a min weight of 1500 Kilos hope that answers your question if not drop me an email.
